Hi Capt. Larry! What a terrific surprise to read your post!

We took your whale watching excursion 4 years ago and had such a great time! When we returned home, I was very eager to spread the word of our experiences with both your excursion and Coastal's helicopter adventure! You're both first rate!

Sure wish we could join the MUSH group for another great day with you! I know everyone who will be whale watching with you will be in for a super time!

Capt Larry, will be calling you with our 4 deposits. I think 3:00 sounds perfect, and after dinner, there is still a little time to go into town for those who want to.

Karen - thanks for the reminder - I didn't read the whole thread.

Anyways, its Peter Ajharn & Mark Newman. I'll call in a few days so maybe they'll have our names by then.

Thanks for arranging this Masaki!!!

Masaki I would like to sign up for the whale watching trip you organized, if there is still room on the 2nd boat. Shall I wait until you forward my name, or go ahead and call with a deposit? Thank you,

Robin - your name has been added to the list. I'll probably send ORCA the new list on Monday so can you wait until next week before calling for your deposit? Thanks!

Madaki - I had the impression when I called from Laci, who I spoke to that we are most likely to be on Capt Larry's new boat, which would hold all of us. that would be fun, instead of being divided up - didn't you say further up somewhere that might be a possibility as well? She also said when she called back to confirm she had found our names on the list, that the trip has been moved up to 3:00p, which would get us back to the ship by 6:30.

JoAnn, that's interesting that we might all be on one boat! Maybe Robin or whoever calls in their deposit next could remember to ask if we will be in 2 boats or one?

JoAnn - that's exactly the issue I'm discussing with Larry now. I'd prefer for all of us to be on the same boat but the new boat can hold a max of 49 people and he'd prefer it to be closer to 40-44 people so we have room to spread out. We currently have 51 people interested with a bunch of people on the fence. If we really have more than 45 or so people interested, we might need to split the group into 2 and use 2 boats simultaneously. I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll all end up on the same boat but I'm still waiting to hear back from those that are trying to decide ... :) I'd also like to have some breathing space in case some last minute people decide to join in.

Hi Masaki :)
I am a slacker and have done absolutely nothing regarding the planning of this trip. We have a cabin, but I don't even have the air worked out yet confused Can you give me the info on this expedition or is a RSSC one? I would love to do it if there's still room. Thanks.
Editing to say I read over the first page info; if there's room please add John & I for the whale-watching only :)

Masaki,

You definitely don't want to be too crowded on the new boat. Some of the seats are on both sides of tables and, if I remember correctly, those sitting on the inside would be "trapped'" requiring the others to move if they wanted to get up.

We were lucky and only had about 30 I think.

Kimmi - You and John will be added to the group, yay! What's your last name again? I think I remember it but don't want to mangle it. :)

Yikes, Masaki. Are we too late to sign up for the whale watching? If not, please add our names to the list. I'll call Captain Larry today to make our deposit.

Thanks!

Marti - I'll add your names to the list (I'm assuming it's the 2 of you?). Larry's working off a list that's about 2-3 generations ago at this point so things are a little confused on their end but that's OK, we'll make it work in the long run!

Peter - that's weird - I've talked to them twice now around 10-11 AM my time and never had a problem getting a hold of someone in the office. That would place it around 11 AM - 12 PM their time or 3 PM - 4 PM your time (EST). Maybe try calling then?

Good news, Mushies!

I just called Capt. Larry's office, and they said that we are ALL going to be on the same ship.

Capt. Larry is indeed in Hawaii, and the gal who manned the phone said she is overwhelmed with work, but that if you have called in, you are confirmed. She indicated that there is plenty of room for all who are interested.

I wonder if something has changed? We're at 48 people now (with possibly more joining at the last minute) and the max capacity of the boat is 49 (and that's MAX capacity with every seat taken including seats facing backwards). Orca likes running the boat at around 40-44 people or so to avoid overcrowding and to make sure that people get to spread out. The last time I talked to Larry, we had agreed about going with 2 boats to make sure that people had room - maybe they've changed their minds? I might need to call them and find out what's going on.

My confirmation says pick up/trip time 2:30 - trip time (duration) 3:00, which was what I was told when I called to give the deposit. I think she told me that they moved it up so we wouldn't get back to the ship so late.
