I have a ? for you! I spoke with a friend today and found out you're on the early part of the Grand Pacific cruise on the Mariner. Any chance of joining the Mariner earlier in Vancouver and going on MUSH with us? There will be lots of nice, fun people onboard...kind of a "Terry fan club" of sorts. Any chance?

Marcie, I am to board in Whittier and stay on to Tokyo. I have asked to begin in Vancouver as we have many people starting the entire cruise there and I think it would be important to connect up the whole Pacific Coast experience. Barry will begin there as well. Starting two weeks earlier - in time for MUSH - may or may not be possible due to other projects scheduled for me in the office. No doubt it would be fun - like a big family reunion! We just need Hans!

PS - What's the pretty black kitty's name?

Terry, I think it makes perfect sense for you to get on in Vancouver and just stay on until Tokyo! Wish I worked for RSSC! It would be a done deal!LOL.

Hans will be on WC and on safari with us in So.Africa at the end of segment 1. He's great! My black kitty's name is Amos. He's my Dennis the Mennace of all my pets!

Terry, both joannpv and I are bring on lots of family, I think about 20 between us, and almost all are new to cruising and we really want them to enjoy the Regent experience for the first time. Any way we can convince Regent to put you on in Vancouver for August 30 and MUSH, and what, the 70+ lct members on this cruise? You have such great fans among Ngaire's clients and others on this board. In Alaska, the commentator can really make a good cruise into one that is spectacular! In my business view, "office work" is never more important than "people work"! Editing to say, I just ordered your book this morning!

Lauri, I do like those "get down" bananas!

I know it seems crazy for me not to be there and easy to change things, but it's not that simple. I just disembarked and do not know what is scheduled for me - I know there are planning meetings that are very important. I posted this new topic for all you MUSHERS in the event I could answer questions or be of help in preparing for your cruise. That I can do! Lemme know!

Maybe someone who know's M.C.'s address should mail him this thread. Maybe he has no idea how badly we'd like to have Terry on MUSH with us.

Dear All, Before anyone sends anyone anything, please let me see what's going on. My job entails more "behind the scene" things than most people realize. Besides I am sure Roger will do a great job; he's fun!

Again, if you have any questions about Alaska, I would like help.

I feel so impotent. I just read a question to another Musher about Capt. Larry. Please people! I know him! I love him! If you want the inside scoop before you get onboard - ask me!

Terry, in reading your book and the map that we received with our documents, Seymour Narrows sounds interesting. Since we are traveling northbound on MUSH, scheduled to depart Vancouver at 5 pm, will we be able to see anything in the dark? Do you recommend making an effort to see Seymour Narrows?

Thanks for your offer to answer our questions.

Dena's question also of interest to me. I have always gone in the other direction for two previous cruises, and Seymour's Narrows was in the middle of the night. How soon after setting sail does it occur? Okay, I could probably look at Terry's book again. I thought it said 5 hours out of Vancouver!

Our cruise went south bound and we went through Seymour Narrows around 10;30 p.m. (don't recall exact time), but it was still light enough to see the bank and also watch the current swirling in complete circles. I know I would not want my little boat to be caught in that!

Tom and I found it quite interesting when Terry said they have to calculate a "safe" time to pass through there and the window of time isn't as long as what you'd think.

Dear Mushers!!!

Sorry, I have been in Omaha! Regarding your questions, unfortunately northbound you will transit Seymour Narrows in darkness - probably about 1 am. Not a lot to see - but if you are up you feel the ship manuvuer through the "z" of turns.

The "safe" is slack water - the perios between high and low tides - current is less swift. Slack water is about 1.5 - 2 hours; but you are also sharing that precious transit time with a lot of other ships!

Wish I were there with you!
Bon voyage!!!!!!!
