4 weeks and 3 days till we fly out????? OMG, I wasn't ready for that. Wooo, guess I'd better check out stuff to go to the cleaners this week and get it out and back and ready. We have a really busy month coming up, as mentioned somewhere else, two days babysitting GK's in Richmond this week, Labor Day weekend and neighbors coming Monday, BAMA-DUKE game weekend the 16th, then the three youngest Grandkids here for three days while parents go to a partner retreat for SIL's company, then just a few days before we leave. Bills to pay, packing to do, cat care to organize, house things to take care of, hair, nail pedi appointments - YIKES!

No docs here either. Should we be concerned? It seems odd that they'd send out most of the docs and just hold back a few. Maybe they have something against Fort Worth

For those getting off Oct 10 and back on Oct 11 (overnight private excursion) are you taking small carry on??

Ralph, of course it is important, and I so wish you and Carol could be with us. But far more important is what Carol is going through now, and now you focus on that, and getting her better. Joanna, the 3rd floor balcony room facing the Acropolis is where we called you from....remember? Marilyn & I laughed every time we watched the changing of the guards.....who was the choreographer for THAT? :D Beautiful hotel

Yes I remember! We really enjoyed this hotel had a beautiful room with balcony facing Acropolis too! Guess my guardian angel was looking over my shoulder when I called Delta last night. There were no more $$ charges and no more pts just "let's see if I can make that change work for you" - feel I have been dealing with Delta for yrs on these flights!!!

What are you doing? Tony has never done the Acroplis - we love walking around the old town behind hotel - I hate all day long tours -

We will just be hanging out as well on the 2nd. Probably walk around the Plaka, have lunch somewhere, just enjoy the city on foot as much as possible. Is the old town you refer to the Plaka?

I have not been to the Acropolis and if you & Tony, or just Tony are up for it we can make a short visit in the morning. I sort of slept through my chances last year...

The longest hike I made was to the Plaka, Shoes!! jewelry!! but gold so high now, no deals :(

Well if you go thru the Plaka, and I don't know yet just how far it is, you can walk up the stairs to the Acropolis, long, and in fact would probably go right past the restaurant we are eating at Sat night. I think Spriros told me the restaurant was about a 15 minute walk from the GB, but it probably didn't include walking up the steps. Bet the concierge at the hotel can give a lot more detail on distance and time to get there.

There's a Hop On-Hop Off Tram you can catch on Syntagma Square a block or so from the GB. It
takes you to most of the main sights in central Athens (Olympic Stadium, President's Palace, Plaka) and it stops right in front of the Acropolis -- it's a great way to see the main sites and also go to the Parthenon. The new Parthenon Museum is open now. It was about 12 Euro for the tram the last time we were in Athens a couple years ago
