Yikes, It looks like Ike might be the storm we have dreaded.......They are telling us to prepare for a big one.

We are in an evacuation zone so we have made hotel reservations and plan to move out on Monday as ordered.

Regent is doing a wonderful job keeping us all informed and getting the building ready. I do feel sorry for the Hotel guest that are here now as the pool area and beach are being emptied of furniture etc. We really hate to leave our new condo not knowing how this building will stand up to a cat 3-4 storm, with flooding from the Atlantic a given. Living on the ocean certainly has its pros and cons.

Doris, I hope you have a good outcome with this storm and he peters out like Hannah is supposed to do!

Doris: I have to admit I am already weary and the last one we had (I erased name from memory bank was only a TS and went on for 4 days) so dreading the new ones - these episodes make me wish for small place a lock and run - and NOT across from ocean!!!!!!!! - we ran few years ago (again, forget name) and flew to Coconut Grove with friends, who had condo, only to have the devil come in there - ugh!!!!

Oh Joanna, We have the rains from Hana now and the news this morning about Ike is not good for us. He is heading straight for south florida :eek: We were just informed that the area we have hotel reservations will be evacuated if the storm reaches a cat 3, which it is now, so we are busy trying to find a hotel further west...good luck to us!!!!!

This whole situation is exhausting....glad we don't have the house to worry about anymore with shutters, pool and an old roof.

My 95 year old father refuses to leave his house, he lives west, so another worry :ohmy:

Everybody stay safe! We are wringing our hands now, because we are due to fly through Atlanta on Thursday. Can't somebody just go shoot Ike and put us all out of our misery?

It looks like Ike will just miss us. The keys are evacuating right now, and they expect to get hurricane force winds on Tuesday. The forcast changes every few hous so we haven't cancelled our hotel reservations yet.

From the weater tract that we saw early this morning it looks like Ike may be on his way into the gulf and threatening all those people that delt with Gustov last week.

We also heard that the Turk and Cacios islands were hit very hard with massive distruction and Cuba is next.

This has been a very exhausting few days and they say we are not in the clear yet. We will know by tomorrow at this time.......
