Dena,
I am so glad you and Grant enjoyed Siglo. We think they are the best we have ever heard also. Hard to believe they have been with the ship for over 10 years and they still have their enthusiasm. We particularly enjoyed them up in La Palette late evenings.

We were beyond bummed when Siglo was not on our last PG cruise in February 2006. The Eastern European band that was Siglo's substitute was horrible. When the lead female singer came out in a full Russian peasant outfit as we were sailing by a motu, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

We had such fond memories of hanging out in La Palette each night listening and dancing to Siglo.

Next time we go on the PG, I'll have to see if I can get a guarantee that they'll be on :) .

Am still thinking seriously of a Fiji-like itinerary in 2012.

Susan, we also really enjoyed the "late night" shows in La Palette. The guys are fun and friendly with great personalities. They usually played well after the stated ending time up there.

Eugene, on our previous PG cruises we also had Eastern European (possibly Ukrainian?) bands and were completely underwhelmed. I remember the female singer sitting on a chair looking totally uninterested while performing. Someone told us that the stage manager, Randy, plays in the band that plays when Siglo is on vacation, so maybe they have (wisely) gone away from that source.

Thanks Grant for all those great shots I enjoyed traveling with you while I was in Alaska. What a contrast, Tahiti to Alaska. You are a fantastic photographer and a great poster.

I think you're right, Greg, they're Ukrainian. I recall them very well (not in a good way, LOL!) They were on our June 2006 trip, and thank GOD Siglo was on for our New Year's cruise after we'd heard so much about them. We had many a nightcap in LaPalette while being treated to their songs. In addition to being extraordinarily talented musicians, they were so nice to us. They would even stay and have a chat and a drink with us after performing, even though I'm sure they were thoroughly exhausted!

I was also told that Randy is part of a band that plays when Siglo is on holiday. Randy played several evenings during our cruise and I would think that any band he is part of would be a good backup to Siglo.
