Marilyn, we wanted to go back to Rome, and the stop in Cassis is a bonus for us. We missed our stop in Marseille a couple of years ago and now we can go back and do the things we missed.

This looks like a great cruise! I went onto the SS site and what shows is a discount rate of 40%. You mentioned 50% off plus the 5% Venetian Society discount. Is this price point available for TAs only?

Cannot pull up the fares ??? Any help ? Is it 50% off the usual SS printed fare, or a special fare ?

Tennisbunny, it was a 50% off fare plus the 5% Venetian discount when we booked it on 10/17. It was not a TA only fare! It sure didn't last long at that discount. Went to the website today and see that they have lowered it to 30% off plus the 5% Venetian discount. I edited the heading today to reflect the new amounts.

Like I said, this itinerary must have been booking up left and right. It was only at that fare for about, what, 10 days? I think that's a record! Don, looks like you'll have lots of company! :)

The wonderful thing is, SS ships have so much space per # of guests, they never feel full!

Kristin, I agree! We're just glad that we booked it as soon as we did. Whew, that was fast!

I was watching that as well! They were advertising it on the ship (Shadow 10/29/06).....Oh well, I geuss it was not meant to be for us....

While on the 10/29/06 cruise, we also looked at a few Nov/Dec 07 options, but fares seemed higher overall. Thoughts out there among more experienced SS cruisers that there's any chance of pricing going DOWN???

tennisbunny, it isn't just SS that has higher fares. It seems that all the luxury lines have higher prices this year as opposed to last. Even at 50% off on this one, it is still higher than we paid per diem than our cruise last year.

As a rule it seems that rates go up the closer that it gets to sailing, rather than come down.

We have just booked cabin 537 which is the one that we had on last May's cruise !! We intend to spend a few days in Barcelona, my favourite European city, before boarding.
In the meantime !!! We sail on Mariner Jan.9th. to Manaus.

Interesting you say that Neville - I am not a world traveler, trying, but my daughter just told me she spoke to a gentleman who has traveled many times around the world. She asked "your favorite city?" Barcelona, he said!!! Congrats on your SS booking - Joanna
