Has anyone seen it?
If so, what did you think?

I am going to wait until it's out on DVD. I tend to get emotional at some commercials, so I imagine I would be a blubbering idiot when I see that...I prefer to do the blubbering idiot thing at home!!

Just my opinion, but I am not sure why so many people are upset about its release. If you feel you can't handle it, don't go see it! But I certainly don't feel it is too early!

I am curious to hear peoples' opinions on it!

Those who lost loved ones felt it was well done and honored those who lost their lives. Who are we to say it's too early then?

I will not see it as I know I can't handle it.

Very mixed feelings on whether or not to see this. I feel compelled to view the film, but know it will be tremendously wrenching. Unfortunately, we all know too well the horrid and tragic ending of this film.

I will admit that on the actual day of 9/11, I was absolutely glued to the set...changing channels to get another "view"...I am not even sure why, because every time I saw a plane "hit" I started crying again...but still I sat and watched...

I think it would be nice, although painful, to watch the human stories and see the courage....I was sitting at work when the rumors started flying (excuse the wording) that a plane somewhere over PA was hijacked and ready to crash. We all sat nervously looking out the windows and listening for jet engines.

Imagine the horror those people felt on 93 at hearing what the other planes had done, and what an extremely short period of time that they had to make the choice to esentially sacrifice their lives for others...complete strangers to each other and to those whose lives they saved.

I think the movie is so much more about giving the horrific events of that day a "positive" spin, instead of focusing on the evil men who orchestrated it!

Sorry..I didn't mean to go on and on...such an emotion evoking subject!

I watched the A&E TV movie of 9/11 and cried my eyes out, so will probably do the same at the theater version ( They are showing that version again this week. I saw it at the end of Jan) The version I saw was pretty good, although it did try to personalize the bad guys.

It was called Flight 93 not 9/11. Been a long day
I probably should slow down if I'm going to post

Like you, I originally saw it in January on A&E and I cried and had a flood back of all of those feelings that I had on Sept 11 as I watched the terror unfold on TV. Interestingly enough I could not turn it off even though it was upsetting me. I wanted to remember - to honor and to respect. I am in such awe of the enormous courage those men and women showed. I dont know if I would have had the courage to be that brave. Don't misunderstand - the firemen, the policemen, the rescue workers were all incredibly brave as well - it is expected of them because of the jobs that they do every single day. What commands my respect and awe when it comes to flight 93 is the common-ness of all of those on that flight. They acted with no concept of "being brave" - they just did what they did to protect a nation.

Having said all of that, I'm still undecided whether to skip the movie in the theater and catch the DVD rental so I can weep in the privacy of my own home or not.

I will never forget 9/11.

On my trip to Japan the past three days, I asked almost all the flight attendants and pilots if they were going to watch it--not one person said they could handle it. That we're United and most of us knew someone working on those planes only makes it worse, i think. I got emotional just seeing the title of this thread but had to come over and see what everyone was saying. I don't know anything else in America that causes such an emotional reaction--question for anyone of the Pearl Harbor generation, was it just as hard, or was 9-11 worse for you? As for 93, maybe difficult because we all know how easily it could have been one of us that day.

The other first officer I flew with this trip was flying as a captain of a 727 that day and when they forced her to land in Moline, she had no idea beyond that it was a "security breach" and that she had to LAND NOW. she was sure it was a bomb and she admitted the thought went thru her mind: please God, don't let Moline be the last thing I see. (apologies to any Moliners) It was a gripping tale. I'll probably blog about it sometime soon.

An answer for Flyerdreamer - I am just a little bit younger than the "Pearl Harbor Generation" so I don't remember the actual attack at all; however, I think that 9/11 had to be much worse because of television and the media attention that we are now capable of generating. We were in France when it happened and even there had the surreal experience of watching it over and over again.
