What? No comments yet on tonight's show? Where are you people!!!! Well, I stand corrected. They did dismiss Suzi - sooner than I thought they would. I thought they would keep her until the last show, but I was wrong. I must say, JD's ballad did not impress me. Maybe its his vibrato. Its so strong, and - I have to say it - it reminds me of how he must have sounded all the time when he was an Elvis impersonator. Tonight he sounded like Elvis, but they kept him anyway........ I thought Mig kicked ass, and I still say he's far and away the best choice. I'm getting a bit tired of Trees - I don't think Marty's singing is as versatile as Mig's, although personally I like his style (as apparently do the voters.)

It was SOOOO good to finally hear MiG sing an INXS song. And yes, he kicked ass. :)

Masaki

PS: hate to say it but I suspect that JD is going to be INXS's choice.

and then there were three.

I'm sadly disappointed in INXS and their dismissal of Suzie. Even more surprisingly, I didn't think MiG did anything special. He just didn't bring the sexy for me. He needs to stop the prancing - it's just wrong.

So, MiG might be too theatah to be sexy, JD is too growly to be sexy and Marty is too blonde to be sexy. I think they need to start over again next season.

I am the outcast here but I never liked Suzie's voice. It was perfect in pitch but I found that every song she sang sounded the same. I also didn't like her gyrating on everyone and falling down at the end of every song. She was much too "classis" rock and roll, I felt.

I am still rooting for MiG or Marty to win.

Karen, I am with you. And by the way, what is "classis" rock and roll. Is that "classless" or perhaps "classic". Her gyrating didn't bother me - seems like JD is the master gyrator....but hey - what do you expect. Its rock n roll! She is beautiful, I'll say that - the camera loves her. She should have no trouble building a great career.

Andrea, thanks for the lyrics by the way. Still don't know what they mean, so maybe its better I can't understand any of these songs! I think Mig is VERY sexy. Am I the only one that clapped when he took off his shirt last week? Nice muscle definition......

Well, I'll wait with great anticipation till next week's finale! I think they will pick Mig, so hope Masaki's wrong. Still can't see them picking Marty, but maybe he has convinced him that he can take them to the future.....Any, its been a great summer show! Really have enjoyed it! (After next week, hubby will be able to come out of the bedroom.....)

All these guys/gals should have no problems getting a solo career started after this. They're all great performers. It just depends on what's right for INXS at this point.

While I did enjoy Suzie's performances (for the most part), I did think that it was telling as to how many times she ended up in the bottom 3. At some level, INXS needs to be aware of how well their proposed lead singer is connecting with the general public. They dismissed Ty after being in the bottom 3 for 3 times. Suzie was there 5 times.

Also eagerly anticipating next week's show!

After watching the show tonight, I am going to wager that Marty is going to win. I think MiG picked a bad choice for his final song. Not that Bohemian Rhapsody is a bad song but Suzie already nailed it and she was backed up by an orchestra. The fact that he was in a Queen show on stage is also a reason he should of steered clear of that song.

JD is just not a team player but he I still think he has a slight chance.

I guess we will have to see how they do on Tuesday night but I bet the band already has it's mind made up.

I agree Karen. MiG should have picked something other than a Queen song. It's not helping his cause.

Glenda, I just ran across this accoustic version of Radiohead's Creep. Maybe you can understand the lyrics from this version. It's about a man whose girlfriend left him :)

Thanks Karen! Nope, still couldn't understand it. Cute cartoon though. I'm just challenged that way. I do have a hearing problem, and a comprehension problem even when I can hear. For example, I have to see English movies on video where I can stop the action and rewind, or put on the words using mute. So, its just me. Me, and the modern way people sing and interpret songs. Don't think I had any trouble with Perry Como, Patti Page, Jo Stafford - but, I was younger then........

Can't wait for our finale show!

Well, it's finally here!

I'm going to agree with Karen. The "grassy knoll" theory was that MiG was chosen from the beginning, but I don't think he's proven he's "roit" - and choosing BR isn't going to impress Our Band.

JD is a loose cannon - enough said.

Marty (even though he's a screamer at times) seems to be the one most in sync with the band and with himself.

I've read the new lead singer will only be contracted for one album and a tour - not sure how true it is.

Andrea, Joker\'s forums claims to have found out who the real winner is already. Don't read that forum, if you don't want to see the spoiler!

Okay!!!!!!!! Its over!!!!!!!!!! Well, I must say, I think it is the right choice. When Mig chose to sing Bohemian Rapsody, I wondered right there......it is such a theatrical number, and I went, uh oh........Marty's song - that Pink Floyd number, was good, but when I saw JD - well - he rocked.......I was NOT surprised when JD and Marty were selected....

When each of the two sang with the band? Well, it was over right there!!!!!!!!JD rocked. Down and dirty......thats him, and thats INXS - I thought he fit SEAMLESSLY as if he had been singing with them ALL ALONG - to finally see him and Marty sing with the band, it as just no contest, IMHO. And remember, I am a Mig fan - but JD - HEY - he completes INXS!!!!!And, their final number? The new tune sung with JD, "Its so Easy to Lose Control.." - could have been written by JD, or with him in mind!!!!!!!

Anyway, it made this old rocker happy. Made me feel young again.........

NOW, I guess this thread has to die a happy death, we have fulfilled our mission........

Nice sharing these moments with you all!!!

You can't read that blog while drinking anything, or it will wind up all over your monitor!

Well, we knew what was going to happen. I can't believe I wasted 14 weeks of my life watching this show! At least I won't have to worry about trying to get INXS tickets.

Karen, I left early yesterday and didn't see your post (computer at home should be hooked back up tonight). Were they right?

Yes Andrea, they were right.
You know, after watching the show last night, I think they picked the right choice. As much as I disliked JD's personality, I really think the was best for the band. I agree with Glenda, he did the best of the 3 last night and he did REALLY good on both INXS songs!

Editing to add, I forgot to mention how funny it was when they were showing clips from the first show and the boys were spazzing all over the stage during their first performances :)

I agree, Karen. Much as I disliked JD, over the last few weeks I had to admit to myself, this guy is the best fit out of all of them. I also think MiG will go so much further on his own than he ever would have with INXS. It was for the best.

I honestly never did warm up to Marty - his body movement didn't always look natural, like it did for most of the rest of the contestants. He also reminded me too much of David Spade (maybe a cross between him and Tommy Shaw). I know that he will do well, though - he really developed during his time there.

Gosh, Kristin - I see you are in SW Florida! How are the Rita preparations going? The gulf coast is being slammed for sure! Here we just have to worry about earthquakes (we're about due!)

I agree with you about Marty. He's pretty self-contained, although his motions with the music seemed strange at times. that "mad conductor" label seems apt! but, I did think it was great that they offered him a spot on their tour - he does bring a very modern, sort of avant garde sensibility to the band, which is certainly not that! Yeah, didn't JD do fantastically well! He's definitely "roit"!! I also agree with Mig will have a wonderful career - perhaps on Broadway. His sensibility is also much different that those old grizzled vets....

Andrea, how can you say you wasted 14 weeks! Wasn't it fun???? I sure had fun. Hubby self-banished to the bedroom TV, and Moms rockin in the den..........I loved it! (Even if I understood NOTHING of the lyrics - who cares!!).

Glenda...I always feel like I waste too much time watching reality tv - actually, just tv in general! Thank goodness for the DVR - I'd miss half my shows if I couldn't tape them.

No, I enjoyed Rock Star, and I'm hoping they come up with a band to look for a new singer next summer. There are a few options out there!

I finally got around to listening to some of Marty's music with his band the Lovehammers, and they are really good. He would have hated singing with INXS. There are clips at www.lovehammers.com .

Andrea, I have a DVR too - as you say, this way you aren't a slave to your shows and your friends don't have to look at you with disdain......

I must say I don't watch any of the other reality shows, with a few exceptions: Dancing with the Stars (the "new" finale is waiting on my DVR!), and I liked "the Cut" - about the fashion industry with Tommy Hilfiger - sort of an Apprentice. And, I like the Apprentice. Thats about it. I do like a few network shows, but don't really care if I miss them (except for West Wing.) I like a couple o f the HBO series. Sad to see 6' Under go, but it was time. This new one, "Rome", my hubby likes but its too gory and too , just too too...........Kinda like "Deadwood" - another fave of hubby's - just too too! Oh, and also like the Shield.

As an aside, I don't know what was happening with the Emmys this year. Other than it being a generally bad show IMHO, how could the actress in a mainstream network show like Medium win for her work over Frances Conroy in 6' Under, and Glenn Close in the Shield!!! No comparison. I also kinda like that other new TNT show with Kyra Sedgwick, "The Closer"

It's almost time for the big show! I actually just got tickets today. I kept telling myself I wasn't going to go, but I've downloaded all the Lovehammers albums and they really rock. So, thanks to my friend ebay, Jerel and I will be going on Friday night. I will give you all a review this weekend.

CBS renews Rock Star for second season

Mark Burnett’s summertime musical competition series Rock Star has been renewed by CBS. The show’s success led to talk of a second season last fall; later, Van Halen was rumored to be the featured band, but that group will not be on the show.

So who will the new band be? Variety reports that “Burnett and exec producer David Goffin are keeping a tight lid on details about the new season, saying some key deals have yet to be hammered out.” The new season could “be devoted to finding a lead singer for another headless band or go in a completely different direction, such as creating a new band,” according to Variety.

Mark Burnett told the paper, “‘Survivor’s’ huge, but wherever I go now, people tell me ‘Rock Star’ is their favorite show. I’m glad it’s back. We know we’re going to get the same audience back next summer. Now it’s about growing that audience.”

The show will air twice-weekly this summer; applications are now being accepted.

Woohoo!! Though it definitely won't be as good with a new band instead of an established band.
