I haven't posted in a month or so.
The first 2 weeks of December we were in a wonderful All Inclusive resort near Cancun.Marty has a hard time walking now so he took a folding mobility scooter to get around the resort. It worked out really great. He did tip it over at the Cancun airport though and fell off but didn't get hurt. It took 2 men to get him up. He also passed a kidney stone while we were at the resort but he has gotten used to that. The last few days we were there he really started feeling sick.We have known for a long time that he would be going on dialysis and when we got home we found out that the time had come. He starts Monday morning and has to go every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. He just has so many health problems now.It is hard to believe that he worked for 40 years before he retired and hardly ever missed a day of work.
Sorry to ramble on and on.

Bette - Sending both you and Marty big hugs. I hope the dialysis gives both of you some relief. It is very hard when health conditions change life as we know it.

Cheers, Anne

Bette, I'm glad you were able to enjoy your stay in Mexico before Marty had to start the dialysis. Once he is on a schedule and stable, the dialysis clinic would be able to get him appointments at clinics close to where you might want to go next. Some cruiselines have itineraries with dialysis available.

Betty, I'm happy that you and Marty were able to enjoy your trip before dialysis started. Hopefully, once you are used to the schedule, life will settle down. And, rambling is a good thing and there are plenty of us at LCT who will listen. Please keep us updated.

Bette - I echo what others have said - you and Marty are in my prayers. I'm glad you had a chance to vacation before adjusting to this change. I hope everything goes well and you will still find opportunities for the travel that you love!

Come by and ramble whenever you like - that's what friends are for!

Thank you all for your kind words. Dialysis is going better than we expected.Getting Marty out of the house at 6:30 AM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday is a bit of a pain but he chose the time.
I hope that after he gets really used to the treatments he can be convinced to travel outside the country.Neither Medicare nor Blue Shield pays for dialysis outside the country but oh well...... We both love warm weather beach resorts. As far as cruises go we are spoiled by having been on Regent. The ships that offer dialysis just are not the same.

So glad things are better than expected. Soon enough you'll be at a beautiful resort, with the ocean breezes, and just enough shade.

Glad to hear dialysis is going better than you hoped.

Warm breezes .. now that's an incentive! Sending both of you a hug and our best wishes.
