I know some of you cruisers cruise without your SO for whatever reason. Does it ever get easier? Tim won't be coming on 007 and the closer it gets the more I seem to focus on that part rather than the excitement of the trip.... How do you handle it? I love to cruise, his but two cruise experiences have been rocky enough that he's not sure he wants to try again. Help! confused

Sue, this is probably the most on topic post I have ever seen in the off topic forum ;)

I know that this won't be of much comfort to you but you can borrow Mark any time you need him. Is your luggage too hard too handle? Call the Mark man. Do you need escorted into the dining room on formal night? Grab his other arm, he has two and we might as well put them to good use. Is the lid stuck on your face cream jar? You are in luck, opening stuck lids is his specialty!

I wish Tim had had at least one good cruise experience, then I bet there wouldn't be a problem, he would be as hooked as we are!

My husband has yet to take a cruise with me & I am not holding my breathe for him to change his mind any time soon. The fool thinks working in his yard beats a trip any day.
I always sail as a single. Hate the single supplement, love having the entire room to myself! My 2nd cruise was a 3 week B2B that included a crossing. I did not know a single person when I boarded. Not a problem. I met people at the muster & it was party time from then on. They always have a cocktail party before dinner on the first night out for singles. If you haven't met anyone after 2 hours on board, be sure to attend this. Instant dinner companions the first night. Also, take an excursion the 1st day. You will make friends doing that.
But with it being 007, you are not going to have any problems. You will already know people & they are already friends.
Relax & enjoy.

Dave and I cruised last fall for the first time. Since returning, he has said that I am free to cruise anytime I want by myself but he will not be joining me. So, I will be added to that list of women who do this by themselves. Kick back and relax with that champagne in your hand, and enjoy the feel of the ocean. I hope that you have a wonderful time. Enjoy yourself and relax. Take lots and lots of pictures and we'll look forward to a trip report when you get back. BTW............Since there are several going, we expect that several are gonna gonna write the trip reports! Will they be different? Hmmmmmm That will be interesting!

Too bad I just don't have the time to go. Have suitcase will travel!

Have a GREAT trip!

Trish

On all of our RSSC cruies when you entered the dining room they would ask if you want to be alone or with others. We usually say with others and have happened on several lone sailors. Being that my first husband was a party pooper I did a lot of stuff alone and I always tell the solo sailors they are welcome to join us - don't be shy - just tell us you want company. We love it too. We've met some really nice people that way and enjoyed excursions, dining and drinking with some great new friends.

I'm not alone on 007 as the whole family will be there - there are 7 of us ranging from 75 to 3 years old. However, I will take you up on those offers!!

I keep hoping that he will join us in the Caribbean - it's hard to find rough waters there in April, and then maybe he'll want to cruise again. Thanks for the good thoughts!

Here's hoping, Sue. Has he been on RSSC before? Maybe the special experience of sailing with them, especially if you can pick a cruise with other LCTers, will sell him on the experience.

I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you. In the meantime, have a WONDERFUL time on 007. (And of course, write a full report for those of us sailing vicariously through all of you lucky 007 folks.) :)

Gil took his first solo cruise on MINT back in Nov (and missed my 50th bday! he's been paying for it ever since. ;) ). With the wonderful friends he met on lct he was never without friends for anything he wanted to do. Yes you'll miss your SO, but definitely enjoy the time away. make sure to take lots of pictures and tales to bring back and share with him. That's what Gil did with me, and it made both of us happy knowing he had a fun time.

Sue, My" mate for life" Ben , can not travel as much as I but that does not stop me one bit! Ben and I just came back from a golf trip from Oregon. He will not be coming with me on OO7 but he will be taking me to the airport. I love to travel with him or my friends and going alone is just as good. This cruise will be the best of Europe all places I have been except one and there will be no presure to do EVERYTHING. I can visit all my favorite places at my own pace and the LCT group will be there too, what could be better. We can have dinner toghter when ever you like and I am sure you will have more company than you can ever want! Macy

Sue, I don't have anything to add to the great advice you have already been given here. Enjoy yourself and maybe one of these days your hubby will come around. If not, you've still had fun.

Thanks for the good thoughts and advice. Time to realize the glass is half full...for a lot of reasons.
