Current track has storm over downtown Tampa at 0800 on Thursday as an 80kt (92mph) hurricane. Of course, there is still a chance storm gets torn apart over Cuba.

Hoping that this storm dissipates and is nothing more than an idle threat.

Right now one of the tracks has it heading right up the middle of Florida. I hate when that happens.

So much for good TUSH weather! <img border="0" alt="[bang]" title="" src="graemlins/banghead.gif" />

Here is the 5:00pm forecasted track. Still over central Florida but as a weaker storm.

Ernesto continues to move East. We are now under an "inland hurricane watch." The patio furniture may have to be moved in tonight. :(

Joanna, Jeanne, Bonnie, Betty, Neville, I take it that you are taking precautions, too (looks like John and Kimmi are already boarded up).

Yeah, Marc! We are paying close attention, over here on the Space Coast! It's my hope that Ernesto will lose his gusto, before he hits Fl. Hope....hope!!!!!!!

We are monitoring very carefully here on the gulf coast as well. Hopefully, Ernie will turn away and we will all stay safe. Our generator was just installed, but we were hoping not to use it this season.

It looks like it will come in right over Palm Beach County like Wilma did!!! We are right in its path. See where it says 8 a.m. Wednesday :mecry: -- that's my house :( . Financially, geographically, etc., this area can't take another hurricane after the last two years. We were hoping for a year off from hurricanes. Let's hope it keeps moving toward the right -- right out to the Atlantic Ocean. Judith

We just got a call from my son alerting us of the storm. Not much news on CNN here in Rome! We did put our shutters down before we left, but the pool furniture etc has not been brought in confused Please keep posting, I do get the best information right here. After last year and all the damage around us, we were hoping for a quiet season. Hope everyone stays safe.

Looks like Ernesto will not become a hurricane again (at least not over Florida). Patio furniture will stay put. :)

It looks like we'll only get tropical winds. I still hope it moves further east and out into the Atlantic and does no harm to the East Coast.

New track moves it a little west. It will be over Christmas around 8pm Wednesday. Forecasted to never become more than a middling tropical storm.

www.weatherunderground.com/tropical

They are usually a little quicker than NHC and they also post computer models. I found a neat site yesterday

flhurricane.com

They use google maps for tracks....very nice.

I worked for NWS/NOAA for 22 years and those are both new ones to me. Thanks. I've learned over the years to swear by Max Mayfield's predictions. I was very disappointed :( when he announced his retirement for January 2007.

A few years ago, the former director of NHC was on the Today show. He was being interviewed and keep saying "NOAA says ..." As the interview was ending, the interviewer thanked him and said, "but who is this Mr. Noah?" Judith

Whew. I think we dodged a big one here in south florida. One of our local weathemen just said that "it seems that Ernesto has underperformed"

That's what I like.......a good 'underperformer'

I sure hope this thing clears out of NC by this weekend without disrupting the college football games. I am looking forward to the first game of the year and would prefer it to be dry.

Well- it looks like it is coming right at us in Maryland. I hope we have a few nice days over the long weekend. The track is coming right over us.
We now have a flood watch- fun.

Good luck, Jan. Glad you Floridians dodged the bullet. Anthony, hope your game stays dry! My daughter will be in Atlanta watching GT play Notre Dame and son will be in Clemson watching their game.

Well we are soaking wet here in Greenville! I do not know the amount, but we have to be well over 5 inches thus far. My yard looks like a swamp!

I noticed the course has shifted slightly westward which is a bit concerning as it it to pass right over us. Also, I am a bit worried about our beach house.

Anthony,
Where is your beach house? My son has a house at Ocean Isle, NC, and earlier today it sounded as if that's about where Ernesto will hit!

Hoping everyone in Ernesto's path is kept safe...my dtr/son in law live in NC, but they live north-west of Charlotte, so I am hoping they will just have some rain and not flooding.

My dtr said they had a good amount of rain all ready at 4 this afternoon.

Good luck Anthony. I think my son and dil are driving to the beach tomorrow (near Georgetown, SC). I thought they were going to Clemson game but was wrong. So hard to keep up these days! Hope this is a quick moving storm.

Well we are on the tail end of this thing, thankfully! I would guess we have recieved in excess of 8 inches of rain (more like in excess of 10 probably) and our yard looks like a small lake.

No word about our beach place yet, which, Kathy, is in Emerald Isle, NC (between Wilmington and Hatteras), but I suspect it will be fine (hopefully).

No major damage reported but low lying areas will likely (or have already) flood. Good luck to those norht of us, because it is coming.

Checking in while I can...getting ripped, hammered and pounded here..tide over the docks, goodbye to my tomato plants :mecry: , thousands of tree limbs and pine cones litter the yard. Water from the Bay blowing sideways. I've been awake since 3am, hard to sleep w/ debris hitting the bedroom windows. I wanted rain but not this

Geez, Suzie!! Stay safe!! I am thinking about you.

We got downgraded and will get just 2-4 inches...but no wind and debris.

Everyone else in the path stay safe and check in when you can!

It just started raining 2 hours ago- and we are in the middle of the path as it comes through the mid-atlantic area.
Just got a new Toyota Highlander  and ready for the rain and snow that shall come our way.
