Has anyone flown on MAXJet? I've just read that MAXJet is offering Business Class service from LAX to London, $699, starting August 30.
How centrally located to the heart of London is Stanstead Airport?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

The MAXJet website is buggy for me. Stansted is about 45 minutes away from London by train. The price is right!

No, I haven't, R. I may venture over there if no one through LCT has had any experiences flying them.
Anyone??????

There was an article in a recent LA Times about this airline beginning service. Prices will be popular.

Denise - we have had Maxjet here in DC for a couple of years now, and I have always thought their prices looked good. I too wondered about the proximity of Stansted not only to London, but to places like Dover or Southampton where the ships leave from and have not been able to find much if any info on their website. Also, I checked once for flights from Stansted to Nice and it was like $600 per person just for that, now I may well have been misreading it and I never followed up with a phone call to BA.
Its certainly though a possibility when booking our own air sometime in the future - they seem to be doing well here in DC.
That really wasn't much help was it?

I see what R means about the website. It appears that it doesn't give you the option of booking from LAX to London; only London back to LAX. I need to check out the site again today.
JoAnn, you brought up a good point about the airport's proximity to Dover and Southampton, as those ports can be at the beginning or end of a cruise.

If service/seats are good, this would also be ideal as a jumping off point for anywhere in Europe! Flying coach all night is just too miserable...and $ or points to upgrade is getting too outrageous. I'll also be interested to hear what you all learn!

I thought about trying them or Eos for our upcoming trip to London since we are flying back to NY, but I can't leave until afternoon tomorrow and we couldn't get to JFK in time for any flight out. Now I see Maxjet flies out of Las Vegas too - we probably would have been able to make that one. Maybe next time.

Denise, I've taken MAXjet from JFK to Stansed several times for business trips. It's easy to get from Stansed to London - however I've also only done the train transfer with a single carry-on bag. I thought MAXjet was excellent overall. There are no middle seats, but the seats don't recline a full 180 degrees. The food is good as well. I was less impressed by the entertainment but that's mostly my fault: for some reason I thought I could play my own DVDs on their players but that was not the case. THe only downside is that you don't earn relevant FF miles for major carriers - but you really can't argue with the price.
