OH MY! WHAT A GAME!

Waited 'til "One Shining Moment" was over to post.

Congratulations Sue!

Sorry Pam; you must be exhausted!

Was very glad we didn't have an emotional attachment to either team; don't think my stomach could handle it.

Helluva game!

I just couldn't watch it, I confess. I thought that if I didn't watch/jinx the game, they'd win. It didn't help.

Well, I'm dragging today after a mechanically challenged air itinerary from Memphis. What a great game. I was probably the oldest viewer in a bar of mostly young 30-year-olds. Had to bend sideways from my chair for a "wavy" view of the big screen. It was really fun to watch the final game in a room full of fans. Congratulations to both teams, it was a nail biter!

Pam, I'll definitely meet you for coffee on my next trip to Memphis. Didn't have any extra time on this visit. Ya'll sure do have good food. Guess I better go visit the diet thread.

As always this was fun. Congratulations Sue and Gary. Next year, I'm paying more attention to basketball!

Grant - I'm honored to be in the cellar with you and other great LCT "can we pick em or not" people! It was such a great game, I don't care how I did. Couldn't have asked for a better ending. Congratulations Sue. Sorry Pam. The tournament really did end with many shining moments.

At long last .. we close up shop until March 1, 2009.

Congratulations to all our bracket winners and to the fun we've had talking basketball for the last few weeks. How many brackets had LIVE commentary from that awesome Belmont near upset of Duke? This is the place to play the brackets, all right.

We all knew Candace would be on the winning team .. the question was which Candace?

The state of Tennessee brings home one of the 2008 championship trophies. It will once again reside in the west side of the state. Unlike the men's championship game, Tennessee's Volunteers ably controlled Stanford's Cardinal onslaught throughout the game, winning 64-48 for the women's title.

Congratulations to Candace Parker, Pat Summit and the rest of the Volunteers. A second round of congratulations for Candace Wiggins, Tara VanDerveer and the rest of the Cardinals for their first trip to the Final Four in quite a while. I'll bet the Candances will be the #1 and #2 picks in the WNBA draft later this month?

Final championship summary:

Men's NCAA: Kansas Jayhawks (and their newly minted eight figure coach's salary package)
Women's NCAA: Tennessee Volunteers (with their seven figure coach's salary package for several years)
NIT Men's Champion: Ohio State Buckeyes
NIT Women's Champion: Marquette Golden Eagles
College Basketball Invitational Inaugural Champion: Tulsa Golden Hurricanes

See you next season!

Cheers, Anne

The Tigers came home yesterday; the plane taxied into a cargo area to allow the hundreds of fans to greet their heroes suitably.

Good for both the fans and the team! The tigers, methinks, will be growling again come November with their eyes fixed on the prize.

Cheers, Anne

I wish I had a crystal ball to know what Bill Self is going to do. That Okie State offer is about too good to pass up.

Good question, Sue. Is the $$$ worth the messed up recruiting for the next 2 to 3 years? Only Bill can make that trade off.

Astonishing what a successful coach can make, especially if a school has a loyal group of deep-pocketed athletic fans.

Cheers, Anne

We're hoping he sticks with Kansas tradition vs. OSU money. Though I don't doubt KU and alums will pony up some $$$$$.
