This is not a 'stupid question.

All I can tell you is not to miss the day they have the sushi at lunch. I doubt that you will ever have tuna as fresh. The Maki was good, but not amazing. The tuna, however, was as good as it gets.

There's also the national dish, poisson cru, which is raw tuna marinated in coconut milk and lime, tossed with onions, etc. It's served on the motu for lunch, and at least one other lunch on the ship, at least in the Grill.

There's also a Japanese restaurant, as I remember, at the Meridien in Papeete, I think.

With the great fresh tuna they have, and other seafood, I would think that whatever sushi they have would be of high quality.

Not formally, at least I think it's posted outside the dining room at dinner. But you can just ask the head-waiter when to look for a particular item. I haven't eaten lunch much indoors, mostly in the Grill, which is indoor/outdoor. So don't know the other lunch menu that well. Mostly buffets, in both locations, but varying every day.

Thankyou Wendy your very informative, while I have your attention <img border="0" alt="[hula]" title="" src="graemlins/hula.gif" /> since you are coming from Toronto you should know how to answer this. In Sept. with the chicago time change there will be a five hour diffrence from Tahiti. We arrive one day early in Tahiti to try to get used to the time change. So at 7:00 p.m. in tahiti it will be midnight in chicago. Do you just force yourself to stay up the first night? and does that work??? Or is there another method. Darec

Darbie,

I usually try to adjust to the time of where I am going before I leave. It only takes a day or two that way. If you miss hte nightlife, you end up waking early - think about the beautiful sunrises you can watch!

No, maybe 1AM if you can for a few nights before you leave. That would split the time for you.

Darbies,

We will have a six hour difference, during daylight savings. We'll be stopping over in LA, which helps a bit. Then we have 2 days in Tahiti before the cruise. I find that it works in my favour very nicely--you are up at the crack of dawn, literally, so you get to see the sunrise. The days are shorter in the tropics, sunset about 6 p.m., and then it's completely dark. It's really nice prowling around the ship at sunrise--it's cool, and beautiful. Doesn't do much for our nightlife, of course, but with dinner stretching on sometimes til 10, that's good enough for me, I'm not a nightclub kind of person.

I do try to encourage my husband to stay up a little later the week before--he's a really early riser normally, and it's harder for him.

As always, it's coming back east that's the kicker--it took me a full week to recover from jetlag last time.
