I am so saddened by Carol's passing. Her laugh was infectious and she was always a delight to be around. I'll never forget her regalling us with her stories at Lion Sands about her leopard and elephant encounters at Leopard Hills. I was hysterical. I'm so glad that we were able to spend a wonderful 2 weeks with Carol and Ralph on NILE and hope Ralph and his family know how much she will be missed by those whose life she touched.

Ralph,
Our sincere condolences to you and your family. We knew you & Brayden from Arctic but we never met Carol, however we both understand what you're dealing with since both of us lost a spouse.
Our thoughts are with you. Give Brayden a hug from us.

(From Ralph's blog)
For the local So Cal folks that are interested. There will be a memorial service for Carol on Friday 10/8 at 1 PM at the Hillside Chapel of the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. As Carol wished to be cremated this will be a simple memorial service to honor her memory and celebrate her life.

We just returned from Carol's beautiful Memorial/Celebration of Life service. Ralph's brother Richard led the service to a full-house chapel. Several people freely spoke about their experiences with Carol and her wonderful outlook on life and her love for family and animals. All spoke of her intelligence and great sense of humor. It was such a very meaningful and personal service.

Ralph spoke of their glorious life together, their 3 sons, 3 grandchildren and their 47 wonderful years together. Her trip of a lifetime, NILE was really her cherry on top! Besides gorgeous flowers, the Chapel was lined with beautiful photos of their life together. Many were photos taken on their LCT trips including ROAR and NILE...proudly displayed was a darling photo of Ngaire and Carol.

Don and Michele were there so it was nice seeing them again. We also were able to meet Mary Elaine & David whom we had only seen photos of before.

Following the service, we went to Ralph's beautiful home. The decor was overwhelmingly an African theme with so many beautiful safari photos and African artwork and artifacts.

We were so happy to meet many of their friends and wonderful family.

We met son Craig & his wife Katie expecting their first child in June. Carol was so pleased when she found out Katie was pregnant. We also met son Brent and his beautiful children Charlotte and Ben as well as our youngest LCT member Brayden. I can understand how Brayden was such a hit on ARCTIC.

It was a very special afternoon and I'm sure exactly how Carol would have planned it herself.

Ralph is doing an amazing job and hanging in there in spite of his heartache. He had printed out all the wonderful comments all the LCT'ers have posted here. I think he feels all of our love and support. We are looking forward to many more happy trips with him.

I wish we could have been there but just getting home last night there was no physical way we could have made it. I would loved to have given both Ralph and Brayden a special hug. I adore Brayden and hope he can accompany his grandpa on future trips.

Marcie - thanks for sharing that. As I said to you earlier today we had only met them at HoDown, but we had such a wonderful conversation about our mutual love of Napili Kai Beach Club in Maui, and felt a special connection as a result. I so wish we would have had a chance to get better acquainted with them on TUT, FUN2 and CANADA.

It sounds like it was a very special service in memory of a very special lady, whom I would love to have had a chance to get to know better.

What a lovely celebration of life for a lovely & beautiful person. Carol was remembered today by many friends and a terrific family in such a peaceful setting. Marcie, you did a great summary of a beautiful afternoon dedicated to Carol. It was so nice seeing you & Tom as well.

Ralph, Don & I value so much the precious heartfelt moments we shared with you today. Carol touched us all in so many ways & you do, too.

We will look forward to seeing you, hopefully on FUN2. In the meantime, your LCT pals are always here for you.

Marcy said it all beautifully about Carol's celebration of a life well lived but too short. Ralph was heartfelt and eloquent. Lovley flowers and people. She will always be part of life's best memories and we will carry her joy of family and love of life and for Ralph with us hugs

Ralph,
I'm so sorry to read of your loss. Carol was one fine lady. Some of my most favorite memories of LAMB were playing POOCH in David's suite with Carol and the rest of the gals. Alan and I send our condolences to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Donna
