When you are down in the dumps and need a little lift, read this list and remember a good time. One or two should put a smile on your face. :app: ;)
1. Falling in love. 2. Laughing so hard your face hurts. 3. A hot shower. 4. No lines at the supermarket 5. A special glance. 6. Getting mail 7. Taking a drive on a pretty road. 8. Hearing your favorite song on the radio. 9. Lying in bed listening to the rain outside. 10. Hot towels fresh out of the dryer. 11. Chocolate milkshake. (or vanilla or strawberry)! 12. A bubble bath. 13. Giggling. 14. A good conversation. 15. The beach <or the mountains> 16. Finding a 20 dollar bill in your coat from last winter. 17. Laughing at yourself. 18. Midnight phone calls that last for hours. 19. Running through sprinklers. < clothes optional> 20. Laughing for absolutely no reason at all. 21. Having someone tell you that you're beautiful. <or handsome> 22. Laughing at an inside joke. 23. Friends. 24. Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you. 25. Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep. 26. Your first kiss (either the very first or with a new partner). <or your first kiss today> 27. Making new friends or spending time with old ones. 28. Playing with a new puppy. 29. Having someone play with your hair. 30. Sweet dreams. 31. Hot chocolate. 32. Road trips with friends. 33. Swinging on swings. 34. Making eye contact with a cute stranger. 35. Making chocolate chip cookies. 36. Having your friends send you homemade cookies. 37. Holding hands with someone you care about. 38. Running into an old friend and realizing that some things (good or bad) never change. 39. Watching the expression on someone's face as they open a much desired present from you. 40. Watching the sunrise. <or sunset> 41. Getting out of bed every morning and being grateful for another beautiful day. 42. Knowing that somebody misses you. 43. Getting a hug from someone you care about deeply.

I bet we here at LCT could add a few more to the list. I'll start.....
When boarding a cruise, a crew member says, "Welcome home, madam (or sir)."

Beth, what a great list. You know, it DOES help to remember things like this, when you feel down or when you feel like complaining. I would add to the list, watching the beautiful little song birds who crowd around my feeder, just feet away from where I'm sitting. My heart smiles when I see that!!

Great list, Beth, thanks!
I'll add -
Waking up thinking about things at work and realizing it's Saturday.
I've acutally gotten as far as shaving before realizing it...(obsessive-compulsive? hmmm...)

ooo, Robert, that is bad. I hope you hopped right back into bed, covered your head and enjoyed being lazy.
Liz, I enjoy hearing the birds chirpping my backyard. It's such a delightful sound and it does make me smile.

Coming home to a clean house after a cruise because the housekeeper came when I was gone, and picked up my dog Zeppo to greet me.
Walking into the door after work to the smells of a wonderful dinner being cooked by someone other than me!

Beth, I know. Birds are amazing. It's easy to just let them be delightful wall paper, but when you stop to focus on them, they're just real delight-makers!!
Olivia, yeah, I'll second the coming home to a clean house (my boyfriend always wondered why I'd spend a whole day cleaning before we left on a trip) and the smell of a wonderful dinner that you didn't have to be responsible for.
Anthony--what greater blessing than one's children running to greet you? And beloved pets also fall into that category, when you walk in the door. Their little hearts are so happy to see you.
And Robert--oh, boy, isn't that the BEST moment when you remember it's Saturday and you don't have to get up and deal with it??????????

Our cats run up to us when we get home but it's primarily to whine in our faces and complain that they're not getting fed RIGHT THIS INSTANT. :) We enjoy it anyways.

Claudia,
I agree.....and a pain au chocolate to go with it would't hurt things either. I think I hear Paris beckoning. :)
Masaki,
Yup, our kitties wrap themselves around us to let us know how we were missed, demand wet food and then ignore us for hours to let us know how annoyed they were that we dared to go away. LOL!

Along with the above mentions of "natural highs", I'd have to add:
Getting that perfect massage where they hit that knot that you couldn't get to and it hurts so bad, it feels good ....
(ah, the release of natural endorphins)

The smells of:
Fresh brewed coffee when you are still laying in bed on Sunday morning;
Orange Blossoms from my tree
a fresh picked, old English Rose,
a brisket cooking in the oven made by my late mother
the scent of my puppies right after their bath
Frank's aftershave lotion in the bathroom

As I recently drove from ATL to Hilton Head,SC, I thought of this post, as I revelled in the multiple shades of green in the new growth leaves, interspersed with lacy white canopies of wild white dogwood blossoms at their peak. While Atlanta is gorgeous at this time of year, 90% of that drive is vast expanses of forest and it was just spectacular! For those of you still waiting for this phenomenon, do enjoy!

Being a adrenaline junkie I love the drive home from the cruise with two radar detectors and a police scanner.
