Denise, A very Happy New Year to Alan and you too.
We are celebrating our annual Holiday Tamales (Ida's homemade (she made 9 dozen) and Champagne (my duty--tough one but someone has got to do it) Wednesday nite paired w/our outdoor Christmas Tree Lighting. We are very, very fortunate to have our dear friend Murray Lynn and his wife Sonia among the dozen+ that are coming over. Murray is an Auschwitz survivor--survived 15 months there (his family perished) as a 15 year old.

A very Happy Hannukah, Denise! We have celebrated "California Christmas" this weekend with our West Coast families and now 10 of us are heading to NYC for our traditional cold Christmas. Happy Holidays to all. --------------- Helen

Joyous Hanukkah! Eva Grant
At last! At last! Hanukkah is here! The whole house is bursting with holiday cheer.
Pancakes are sizzling as hard as they can, Browning delectably crisp in the pan.
The dreidels can scarcely wait to be spun; Presents are hidden for Hanukkah fun;
And there, on the table, polished and bright, The shining menorah gleams through the night,
Like the oil lamp in ancient history, That burned on and on miraculously!
And each flaming candle proclaims the great story Of the Maccabean heroes, their deeds and their glory.
=================================== While living in Memphis, daughter Donna attended school at the Memphis Jewish Community Center where we were members so we were fortunate enough to learn about Judaism. Nothing better than diversity.
Happy Hanukkah!
Cheers! Ray & Penny

Yum! Potato pancakes with applesauce. Happy Holidays to everyone. We took our grandkids to Disneyland last weekend. It is so beautiful with all the decorations. Wonderful Christmas parade! One day there and the next at Knott's Berry Farm. John & I rode rides we haven't been on in years. Our grandchildren were thrilled.

Frank and I wish a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukka to all our LCT friends as well. I agree that its so nice when both Holiday's are around the same time. In Calif many years ago, our kids had some Jewish friends and they were always invited for one night during Hanukka, and then we would have them over to decorate our tree. It was lots of fun and I always felt a good way for them to learn different tradations of different religions and cultures. And those potato pancakes were something to look forward to every year. Looking forward to seeing some of you next year.

It is wonderful to share traditions - I experienced that growing up - loved Hanukkah with my friends and loved having them Xmas Eve at my house - and boy do I remember great cooking by my Jewish second mothers!
