I know this sounds dumb but I can't find the Intercontinental in Lisbon.

Cheron, This may be too late, but I've stayed at the Avenida Palace . It was years ago, but it was in a good location. It was an older hotel, but very nice.

Next fall, we are booked on the Silver Wind and have an overnight at the LaPa Palace in the Embassy District. Suzanne says it is very nice.

Has anyone stayed at a nice hotel CLOSE to the airport that has an airport shuttle??? Nothing is far from the airport but I would like to know if there is one RIGHT THERE. Even the internet search I did (in a hurry of course) did not show the airport shuttle on the details of the hotel. There must be one right there.

There are no hotels at the airport. Nearby hotels include the Radisson SAS Hotel Lisboa, the Holiday Inn Lisbon, Marriott Lisbon and the Holiday Inn Continental.

I'm not sure when you're going or if you took advantage of the free night's stay (and 15,000 points) when you apply for a Marriott Visa card but the Marriott in Lisbon is a Category 4 hotel so you could stay for free if you go by June 30,2006.

That is what I had found I just thought I must be missing something. It is not for me Marcie. You are full of good ideas though!!!!

I usually stay at the Radisson. You take a taxi to the hotel (about 10 euros with generous tip) and they have a shuttle to take you back to the airport. The hotel was recently remodeled and quite comfortable compared to some of the other hotels in the same price range.

The rates are usually quite reasonable, so we opt for a junior suite which can vary from an oversized room with seating area to two large rooms. If you want to really splurge the true suite is huge with a step-up whirlpool tub and separate shower. Breakfast is an extensive buffet, usually included in the price. The dinner menu is definitely portugese with a nightly special that is reasonably priced. There is a friendly Chinese restaurant in the adjoining building..not fancy, but good food.

I haven't tried the Marriott, but I've heard good things about it.

We just booked the Marriott for our pre-cruise in April. It was a weekend rate and included breakfast for 119 Euro. They also had a pre-paid no cancellation rate without breakfast for 65 Euro, which we will switch to once it gets closer to the time, provided that the rate is still available.

Had some pretty good reviews on trip advisor. It is a only 5-7 minute walk to the Sete Rio train station by the zoo (for the train to Sintra) and metro station (5 minutes into the historic district) so it looked pretty convenient.

I am thinking about staying at the Marriott too, a couple of weeks after you. People have been getting it on Pricline for $55 (not euros). Seems like a good deal!
