Discovered today they have a McDonalds in Monaco. I can actually afford to eat while there. Also noticed a Tex-Mex place. I don't think so, but would love to see their interpretation. It is probably as good as most of the U.S. Really, really bad. Sorry you all, but if you don't live in a border state, you just don't have it. Can't even count how many major cities I have been in where the natives swear - "Betty, you will love it. It's authentic." You betcha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betty .. Gary agrees. He lived down your way for round 10 years in his younger days. Still swears others shouldn't mess with Tex Mex! :D

Anne, you have it right about TexMex. I spent six weeks or so for work in Oahu in Jan/Feb and was in absolute Tex/Mex withdrawal. Out of despiration, we tried one of the Mexican places in Honolulu. What a huge mistake. Not only was the food not authentic and not very good--it gave me indigestion for hours! If you want really good Mexican food come to Texas or New Mexico. I love to find Mexican restaurants in odd places, though. My most recent fun find was just off the main street in Taormina, Sicily. Anyone else found Mexican food in strange places??

There is a fairly large indoor mall with some very nice and expensive stores right down the hill from the Casino square(less than a block from where the shuttle lets you off) that has several eating places, including McDonalds. Sitting outside at the Cafe de Paris across the street from the Hotel de Paris to people watch and have a drink/food is a must do.

Agree with dougburns, thats what we did in Monaco and it was just a real treat.
