I agree that HAL is NOT a Regent Experience. But Regent has 4 ships, no short jaunts or local cruises for most of us. I think that your experience had to have been horrible. I've heard similar tales on other ships as well.
But for the costs, and if you have somewhere you want to go, my experience was perfectly acceptable. Every cruise has it's ups and downs - some higher and some lower.
