OK, this is a very late response to hrprof's question, but I just got around to reading this thread. The Bora Bora lagoon night dive is an actual night dive. When I did it in January 2004, I skipped dinner to go on the dive and caught a snack on my return.
One nice thing about that particular dive is that it is the same site as the morning dive that day. So, if you go on the morning dive and also the night dive, you see the same place with daytime active life and nightime active life.
