Global Entry is getting a lot easier in the Los Angeles area. When I got mine a few years ago, I had to go for an interview at LAX which is about 60 miles from where I live. A friend of mine went last week and her interview was in an office building about 15 minutes from us. My wait time for the interview was about 6 weeks and hers was less than 2 weeks.
