Helen - We Poopsters were on the Hanseatic, not Explorer II. Therefore, what we posted about the communications system on our ship may not be applicable to yours. The Hanseatic did not have regular internet access; rather, we each were given an email address which we could use to send and receive text emails. When we were in the Falklands, several passengers were using cell-phones, likely connecting via a tower there. Other than that, I don't recall seeing anyone use a cell phone. Perhaps Ngaire can find out whether there is internet access or Wireless Maritime Service on Explorer II.
