Hi, I am wondering what differences there are between the A and B cabins on the PG. (besides size) Are the A's worth the extra dollar$$? This will be our first time on RSSC. From everything I've read we are in for a wonderful cruise. Thanks for any info about the cabins.

We have stayed in each. We ended up in an A because our B suite had no working outlets and they upgraded us after a day in the B suite. I was really disappointed when I saw the B suite compared with the C. It was not worth the extra money. However, we were delighted with the A for the cost of the B.
The B cabins are almost the same as a C cabin. The configuration of both of these cabins is essentially the same. The C cabin has a loveseat and the B cabin has a couch. The difference in the size of the cabins is the diffence in length of a couch versus a loveseat. Otherwise, the interior is exactly the same. The balcony, too, is a tad bit larger, but not very large. For the money between a B and C cabin, I would never again choose a B over a C. The value just isn't there. The difference in the other cabins beneath a C is that they either have a window or porthole and no balcony.
When I first saw the B cabin, I was very disappointed compared with what we got on the Mariner and Voyager for the same money.
The difference between the B cabin and an A cabin is entirely different. If I had the money, the A cabin is the way to go if space is important to you. The configuration of this cabin is very different. It is one very large, wood panelled room. It has a large desk and bar area and is elegantly appointed. There is no curtain to separate the bedroom from the sitting area. It is a lovely size. The bathroom is the same as in all the cabins, but the deck is very long and much larger....like the penthouse suite balconies on the Mariner. Being that is was Tahiti and we had floats and wetsuits and spent a great deal of time outside, we loved having the extra balcony space. It made for a very comfortable time on the ship.
That being said, it was much more expensive than the B suite. So, my advice? Skip the B suite and choose either the C or A suite. The C suite comes with jewelry (just kidding. but think what you could buy with the savings)!

Thanks so much for the info. ESPECIALLY the part about the B's having a full length couch. I have back and joint problems and can't sleep laying down on a bed. At home I sleep in a recliner. At least if there is a full length couch I can usually manage to prop myself up enough to sleep. :D (You didn't happen to see any recliners on board did you?)
Anyway, I changed today from an A to a B and will use the extra $$'s for our pre-cruise stay on Bora Bora.
Thanks again.

We have cruised in both cat B and cat C cabins. B cabin was a little more comfortable and the veranda was a little bigger. When we were in the B category cabin we didn't have a butler, but I think they provide one with the A and B category cabins now. I personally would rather spend the extra money on a precruise.

The B cabins have a butler..didn't need one since service is so excellent. Sorry, didn't see any recliners. I believe balconies on this ship are useful because they are shaded. The deck has no shade. Have a wonderful time.
If I remember correctly, the B cabins are on the pool level. That is nice.

Crew Tea, I have some pictures of the "B" we were in (814) here (scroll down to the 2nd line): FP pics I wish I had a better picture of the sofa - I thought we did, but oh well. We loved the location, and it was a very quiet deck, having so few cabins.

IMO the butler service is worth the additional price. Our butler saved our cruise. When our luggage didn't show up by 5pm after our non-RSSC pre-cruise stay, our butler took the reigns, located the luggage and had a taxi deliver it from the other side of the island at no cost to us. It seems it was not transfered along with the other luggage for the PG even though it was properly tagged because it was unaccompanied. We took a taxi into town earlier in the day.
We also enjoyed butler service on our recent Rome to Nice cruise on the Navigator. The additional personal services are very nice. And there is nothing like complimentary oeuvres such as crab legs and champagne in your cabin before dinner.

Not to negate your comments at all, ua549...but mentioning only to let folks know....complimentary hors d'oeuvres can be set up with the dining room every day to anybody, including champagne.

Compared to lots of others on this board I am far from an experienced cruiser. But I have been on the PG (three times) and the Navigator and Voyager (once each). In my experience the cabin on the PG is a less important issue than on the other two. The size and ambience of the PG is such that we spend a lot less time in our cabin when on her than the other two ships.
The usual disclaimers apply to the above: your cost/benefit analysis and/or milage may vary.

Thank you all so very much. I changed from the A to B and will use the extra $$'s toward the 3 night stay in Bora Bora pre-cruise. Thinking about the BB Nui, might as well go luxury all the way!! Thanks again...I'm sure I'll have other questions. CT

Kristin, Thanks so much for the pictures. I plan to put the link in my husband's birthday card so he can see where we'll be staying for 11 days. CT

Curious about what's drawing you to the Nui? I have only seen some of these hotels, I haven't stayed in any of them, just wondering. I think if I had to choose, I would pick one that had a view back to BB, since it's such a lovely sight. I believe the Nui faces away from Bora Bora.

Azgkrudi, your pictures are truly amazing. Not sure who took them, but there is a gifted eye between the two of you!!! What type of camera do you have. It appears to have wonderful resolution. Really fab pictures!!! I have been a quiet lurker on the boards, but your pictures caused me to respond.

Great pictures. We took the same cruise in February 2006. With wind chills of 0 or below this morning, they brought back warm memories.

Thanks Karen. My DH and I are taking the Oct.24th cruise in lieu of a large party etc for a significant birthday:^) We can hardly wait. I was able to snag the coveted cabin 767! We are also doing the Regent add on to New zealand and Australia after the cruise. Has anyone else done this, or can offer any feedback? I feel like a fish out of water as I have cruised with the Windstar line for years. In fact, my first cruise was Tahiti on the ill-fated Windsong, and it was heavenly!!

Hello Ruth and welcome! Thanks for the compliment on the pictures - but I have to credit my husband Greg for those, since he takes 98% of our pictures! Most of them were taken with a Minolta Dimage Z2, although the underwater ones were taken with another (very skinny) camera we have...which I cannot locate right now in the house to tell you the name of!
How wonderful that you "snagged" 767 for your cruise! We are thinking of doing the New Year's cruise and 767 was already taken. I just looked yesterday at the pictures that were posted here of that suite - have you seen them? If not, I can try to find the thread again.

Kristin, when we originally booked back in November, cabin 767 was booked. I saw the pictures and liked the added size of the cabin and definitely the verandah. I called Regent about a week ago to ask a question, and just as a matter of interest, I asked if the cabin was still booked. I was shocked to see that it had been released. A quick call to my TA, and the rest is history. I was slightly undecided regarding having a shower only initially, but not having the tub makes the bathroom more spacious. Also the verendah is now one of the largest on the ship, and therfore I figured that the view was worth any compromise over a bathtub. Keep trying and you may luck out as well!! Ruth

Ruth, we did manage to get 765, which should be almost as good as 767 (I think just 8 s/f less)...still has that big balcony. So I won't complain! I completely agree with you about the tub issue - the bathroom looks to be more spacious with shower only (and I wouldn't be using the tub, anyway).
The countdown is on for both of us!!! :)

Speaking of 767...I was able to get that one for my brother and sister-in-law. Well my TA was!! My s-i-l saw it in the brochure and requested it. We'll be in 818 and they'll be in 767. I guess we'll have to meet in the middle. Foggy Foggy in Southern Cal tonight at 11PM Delays at LGB, LAX, SNA and SAN
