Marcie; Only a month to go for you and Tom. Guess you're looking forward to docs within a week or so. Sure wish we could do the entire cruise, but I guess we'll have to be satisfied with BA-Callao. Have a great day!

I got my docs last week and I'm in Cabin 975.
Don't you just love the way they treat their good customers.

Paul, At least you're near the rear elevator. Are you talking about 2007 WC, not SA right?? I have you down for #821 for SA. One week from today is our pre-cruise FLL dinner... As of now there's 22 of us, all from WC!

Are you on the waitlist for a better cabin location?

Just got a change to our return air from Lima. Apparently, AA is no longer going to fly from Lima direct to DFW; they're now going to go thru MIA. Therefore, we were routed out of Lima to ATL and then on to PHX on Delta; a much longer trip. The air to Buenos Aires is still PHX-DFW-EZE on AA and a very comfortable trip. This will affect those considering the Galopagos trip.

Thank you for the post. Carol and I were on the flight to dfw on 3/4/06 going on to lax. Just checked the reservations on the aa site and they show reroute thru mia on aa918. Still have our upgrade to business. The change is not too bad as the lim to dfw was changed to leave at 12:15am and now the mia flight leaves at 1:00am. The connect via dfw had a 4 hour layover the mia has only a hour and a half and gets to lax 30 minutes before the prior flight. The only concern I have is the connect time in mia as it is only 1 1/2 hour to clear customs etc. Hope that is enough time. aa should know what they are doing but ??

Unfortunately, the Lima-DFW flight was a casualty in the ongoing Wright ammendment battle here in Dallas-Fort Worth. AA has cancelled several flights at DFW because they're having to move flights over to Love Field to battle Southwest Airlines and their campaign to repeal the Wright Ammendment. AA is usually the big bully in local battles like this--this time it's Southwest, who along with the City of Dallas has reneged on a long-term agreement designed to help DFW and the entire region. It's a long story, so I won't go into it, but most of us on the West side of the metroplex (along with a lot of people in Dallas who think Love Field is unsafe) strongly support leaving the Wright ammendment the way it is.

Sorry, Marcie--I'll try to make this a short as possible. The Wright Ammendment prohibits airlines from flying beyond the states neighboring Texas out of Love Field in Dallas (the small downtown airport there). This was an agreement between Dallas and Fort Worth when DFW was built to assure that DFW would be a successful airport. Southwest is now really the only airline that flies out of Love Field and they've been lobbying to repeal the Wright Ammendment to be able to fly anywhere in the U.S. from there. American Airlines, who is the major player at DFW, along with DFW Airport and the city of Fort Worth are against repealing the ammendment. American has indicated that to compete with Southwest, they will move many of their flights from DFW to Love. Recently, SW was allowed to fly to Kansas and Missouri--to counter that, American is moving flights to Love Field and also cancelling some flights out of DFW so staffing can move over to Love Field. DFW-Lima was one of the flights that was cancelled.

The Wright Ammendment is a total restraint of trade. It was a payoff to AA by Jim Wright for the support of the former "Big" airlines. If Love is unsafe does DFW allow Southwest to fly out out of DFW? I don't think so. An example of price gouging by AA.

Don't believe it's price gouging by AA. Love is not adequate for long range flights by large aircraft and they do not have the Cat 3 landing system that DFW has. It's definitely a political football though. Dallas will lose some AA business as a result of this move, I'm afraid.

DFW has been begging Southwest to start flying out of the airport with no complaints from American Airlines. The airport has huge billboards all over the metroplex asking Southwest to come to DFW. Southwest says that flying out of DFW is not in their business plan. It wouldn't be in mine either if I had a monopoly like Southwest does at Love Field. Like I said earlier--AA is usually the bully around here, but this time it's Southwest. The original Wright ammendment agreement was to close both of the airports in Dallas and Fort Worth. Fort Worth closed their airport (Southwest Field) but Dallas and Southwest got the Wright Ammendment revised to allow Love Field to stay open for commercial flights within Texas. AA had little to do with that--they would have preferred to have Love field closed to commercial traffic.
