We will be sailing on the Athens to Dubai cruise in October. Do we need visas for Egypt, Jordan, Oman, UAE, etc.? If so, are they the type you can purchase when you arrive or must they be acquired in advance of the trip?

Thanks

Welcome to LCT Scott, Boy do we need to add this to the list of things missing off RSSC's new website. The catalogs/brochures and website used to very explicitly state what visas were required. In fact on the website, for cruises that required visas they used to have a link to ZVS with a password and you could go there and look for your specific Regent cruise and find all the application forms, prices, wait periods, etc. (You did not have to use the Zierer service, but it was an excellent information source for every RSSC cruise.) BUT, I just checked since you asked and all of that is gone! Sadly, I no longer remember what the RSSC password (like a 5 to 7 digit number?) was either to just check the ZVS website. Sorry. I hope that someone else has an RSSC answer to their obligations. Yes, we are all individually responsible for obtaining our own travel documents, but in my mind every cruiseline bears the responsibility of informing their paying customers what they will require you to present to board the ship. In the absence of any RSSC information about visa requirements, I would recommend that you visit the embassy or consulate websites of each country you will visit on the cruise. For US citizens, you can find that from the State Dept. link below.

Scott, I went and dug up my paperwork from our last cruise and here is the information.
http://cir.zvs.com/tourkits/LegacyLogin.aspx
The user name is Regent and the password is 77720
It looks like ZVS only has posted cruises through 09/18/09 though.

Aloha, Scott
Christina and I will be on the same cruise with you in Oct. I have not looked into the Visa issue yet but B&K should be able to advise us. Will look forward to meeting you on board. I will even buy you a drink or two-Ha Ha. Oh and welcome to LCT.

I was on the Discovery Collection last year, which included stops in all those countries. No separate visa was needed for any of them--where necessary, the visas were issued upon arrival in the ports. Qatar was the only country in the region that required one. And i think that one has changed since then.

Hi Scott - nice to see you post.

Here is a link on my web that gives all the information on visas. We will be in touch with you regarding this about 90 days before sailing.

Scott, welcome to lct! I haven't been with Regent on this cruise, just Silversea, booked through BK, and i don't remember that I had to do anything in advance! Just follow Ngaire's instructions, if anything, and you will be fine! Cruising through the Suez canal was quite an experience for me.
