Marc, et al--we stayed at that Scandic hotel a couple years ago when we were in Copenhagen--as I recall, we also got a really good deal on Hilton points (it was probably around 10,000 per night). In fact it was such a good deal, we used the room just for luggage storage for a couple days while we went on the train to Aalborg and Skagen in northern Denmark for a couple days. The hotel is quite nice (standard Scandanvian hotel furniture and layout in the rooms) and in a great location to walk to the train station, Tivoli, or the Stroget (the pedestrian shopping street).

If you pack light and want to do so, the train from Copenhagen's airport to the main train station near Tivoli is easy for transfers. Sounds like the Scandic is ideal if that's an option you wish to pursue.

cheers, Anne

I just made a reservation for Scandic Webers for June 21 & 22 so now I have the Marriott and the Hilton. Hilton points aren't in place....yet. Is breakfast included when you redeem HH points?
If everything goes through than we'll cancel Marriott Res. and stay at Hilton.

All Scandics apparently include breakfast. I haven't stayed at one yet so I can't report on quality. I wonder if Peter might have experience with Scandic.

I'm in suite 774 for Fjords. I may also book the Dover to Copenhagen June 12 and have a back to back. I was on Dag's last special Norway cruise and it was wonderful.

Back to the Scandic--breakfast is included when you use points. At least it was when we stayed there summer before last. They had a huge buffet that was typically Scandinavian--breads, cheese, cold meats, fruit etc. I think they also had eggs, and some other hot items, but don't remember for sure. The rooms in the hotel were efficient (read "kind of small") but nicely furnished and clean. The service was great and the food was good--it's a great place to stay pre or post cruise.

Good to hear Peggy. The reviews on Tripadvisor aren't so good BUT as Marc said, they're doing a complete renovation before we arrive.

Sounds like it'll suit us just fine Peggy. Just hope we get our Hilton Amex card asap so we can use it, pay bill, and have pts credited for certificates. Joanna

How do LCT folks that don"t know the others meet up on the cruises? Is there a note in the Passages for a LCT gathering?

Marcie, friends of mine and Marilyn who aren't LCT but book through Ngaire are also booked.

Rich & Peggy Oberlander. Suite 747

This is beginning to look like a B&K charter! wave

Jim, FJORDS is a B& K escorted cruise (the best kind of cruises!) Ngaire has a cocktail party for all her clients so we get to meet everyone. Many of us have cruised together before so it's always a fun reunion. We have also had group dinners on these "group" cruises like this one. We had our Voyager group dinner in the 1/2 of LaVeranda that is normally closed at dinner time. It's great fun traveling with the "Princess of Regent" Ngaire. When she brings on a group they really do pull out the stops to make everything PERFECT, as well as Ngaire & Ken being such fun to travel with.

VOF (Venice to Rome in Oct '03) was our first RSSC cruise as well as the first time we met so many of the wonderful people who post here...it was GREAT!

Gosh, I hope there are non-B&K get togethers or we will never get to meet anyone from LCT. :(

Not to worry Sue, we'll all meet. I'm guessing about 95% of the people on our FJORDS roll call are probably clients of B & K (after all they are the largest independent booking agency for Regent) but absolutely we'll have opportunities to all get together. It's a bit tricky for things like Ngaire's cocktails parties because she really can NOT invite guests that are NOT her clients because other TAs could misconstrue this as "trying to steal clients". Of course we know that Ngaire would never do this but RSSC has very very strict policies about this as not to ruffle any TA's feathers and keep everyone happy! Guests who are not clients of Ngaire's (B & K) will need to know that this is just the way it is without anyone having hurt feelings.

BTW, being a client of B & K is certainly not a requirement of LCT or being on our FJORDS rollcall. We love new friends!

I am sorry if I was out of line with my post...I was not looking for an invitation to a B&K sponsored event by any means. If I were not my own TA I'd be happy to book my cruises with B&K! ;)

I also didn't realize that the acronym cruises were B&K. I understand not being invited to the B&K cocktail parties, but perhaps there could be a note in Passages for a LCT gathering some morning on a sea day for other LCT bloggers to meet each other.

Jim, not all acronymed cruises are B&K cruises, usually only the ones escorted by B&K have the B&K cocktail parties and other special events.

Be it just an acronymed cruise or true B&K escorted cruise, you can still arrange to choose a time here on the board for a place to get together with other LCTers for a drink on the ship.

Like Karen said we generally set up a meeting spot in advance of sailing here on the board for a get together, such as "starboard side of ship by the pool bar at Sail Away" and go from there. cheer

Marc,

Thanks for the tip on the Webers Scandic. When I tried to use the on-line booking for an award stay, Scandic wasn't one of the choices and there was a link that siad it couldn't be done on-line (though I've heard that some could...different part of the site?) and it provided phone numbers in Copenhagen.

As a tip to others, I decided to try the phone first before a long-distance phone call. I went through the Diamond desk so I don't know if that made a difference, but the agent reserved a room and issued the certificate by email, so we (Judy and I) will be there the night of the 22nd. As others have noted, it looks like a convenient location.

I will be flying from Tokyo so I need a ticket on 21st so I will stay up tomorrow night. I think we may end up on Aeroflot. Status doesn't matter at 331 days; either the tickets are available or they are not. I would recommend staying up if you are using DL Skymiles as they now have the nonstop ATL to CPH.

Well, with only minor problems, we have ticktets to Copenhagen. Third choice of flights; the early Air France flight (at least not Aeroflot  ). Only other problem is that I am in coach CDG - CPH as there was only one biz seat available (which I gave to Arlene ;) ). Of course, this caused our records to be split which will cause me headaches down the road :( . We arrive at 8:55pm on the 21st. :)

Anyone else get air into CPH yet?

Marc, after all my complaining about Delta and reading Flyertalk, I stayed up till midnight Sunday night and got 2 biz tixs (skysaver) for flight out of Jax through Atl into CPH arriving 9 AM the 21st - hope the return will be as easy - so, of course, I had to call Marcie in CA, at 12:45 AM Monday, my time, I was so excited - she had just booked LA to Atl to CPH so we'll be in seats next to each other out of Atl- I am hoping Tom will sit next to Tony for part of the trip and relieve me of Tony's "in denial" hearing problem: huh? what? speak up, stop mumbling! Beltone visit much needed -

Interesting thing was I looked at the Delta site Monday afternoon, (so I could gloat about my luck)for seats on the 20th, expecting to see only skychoice seats - many many skysaver seats - that surprised me - today all skychoice

Congratulations Marc! We got lucky too and are using Delta points to fly Biz class from LAX to ATL to Copenhagen on June 20 (arrive Copenhagen on June 21st for 2 nights!)

This will be a long flight from ATL to Copenhagen but the good news.......we're on the same flight across the isle from Joanna & Tony

Fantastic news!!! I am amazed that they had four seats in business on the ATL-CPH flight 331 days out. We won't get in until the night of the 21st so you will beat us by 12 hours or so.

I wonder if any of our group got the DL ATL-CPH flight on the 21st?

Tonight is the night for those flying in day of cruise. Hopefully, four more will get the ATL-CPH flight on the 22nd!

Marc I guess some others could have picked up biz on Monday afternoon for the 20th ???? Too complicated for me - just happy we have them -
:app: :app: keep fingers crossed for return
