Luke is correct about bringing vanilla into US. Regarding where to buy...depends on how many you want. 3-4 for personal use or a memento, almost anywhere (I think Marche in Papeete has best price). If you want any sort of quantity the Vanilla Tour on Taha'a is best price. They sell by the 1/4 lb (as I recall). We bought about 3 lbs because we used the beans in pint bottles of dark rum to make "Vanilla" gifts for friends and family. Not something for everyone but met our needs that year.
