Hi I've finally reached the point where I get free phone usage. I was thinking of using it to call my family on my next cruise. Are there any surprises here, anything I should be aware of?

Not a thing I can recall - I think the responses are delayed so you really get tired of chatting after 5-10 minutes...never used all my minutes and we have kids and grandkids..nice perk, though - think I called and checked on minutes left with front desk - IT WORKS!!!

The delay is the only problem, and it's irritating. I called my mom once and it confused her to have the delay, so I didn't use it again. Now I have Skype on my iPhone, so I'll be able to call her with that from port.

I had the delay 2 years ago on the Mariner but 2 weeks ago on the Navigator, no delay at all.

Hi Mary and welcome to the board! We didn't experience the 2 second delay on our last cruise a few months ago so maybe they have improved a bit.

Thanks everyone!
I probably won't even use it but my husband will get a kick out of calling his friends and I wanted to make sure there were no surprises.
