I've never used cruise line air, but am now thinking of a cruise in Australia and it seems that it might be more cost efficient to use Regent's air program. What airlines does Regent commonly use? Do you get mileage when you buy your ticket through the cruise line?

Sassy, I don't know if you are a client of BK, but if so, there is a lot of helpful information regarding Regent's air program on their website at http://www.bkrssc.com/I_Air_Information.htm I always start by doing my own search to see if the price is better through Regent. Since I usually come in early, that means a "deviation" fee for Regent air, and the added cost of a transfer to a hotel and then to the ship. Also, now I believe taxes for the flights are added to your invoice, but you would need to check with your TA for confirmation. Getting mileage for Regent air is up to you, and not generally allowed because Regent gets contract prices on their flights. They use a variety of airlines.

We've only used Regent's air once when we booked a cruise at the last minute. From Boston to Anchorage we flew Northwest/Alaska Airlines and returning from Tokyo we flew American.
All flights were in a fare class that meant we could not get frequent flyer miles. That isn't always the case, but sometimes. I don't think you'd know until you get your airline info and look at the fare bucket. If it's heavily discount, you won't get the miles.
Of course, always attached your frequent flyer number to all tickets. Mistakes do happen and you could end up getting credit even though you technically shouldn't.

Andrea, we're using Regent air for the first time on VIKING with economy from LAX to FLL and then Biz on return from Heathrow. Both flights are on AA. What fare class does NOT allow us to accumulate f.f. miles?

I thought I might try Regent air to Alaska for the first time but am now beginning to think it may not be the bargain I thought it was as we want to fly into Calgary to board the Gold Leaf Rocky Mountaineer train to Vancouver and spend a few days in Alaska after the cruise. I shall hand the problem over to my trusty fellow passenger (my son). The cost of an airfare from Sydney to New York that can be upgraded to business class with points is AUD$2,172 more than paying for the cheapest economy fare! I'm still working on that one - can't believe it yet. Lee

We've always used Regent air and have always gotten the proper mileage credit (with fare bonuses when flying biz) - we just make sure to link our FF mile accounts to the booking on the airline's website before the trip. VIKING will be the first time that we've done our own air arrangements.

Lee, I'm curious--you're not flying to New York on the way to Calgary, are you?
We've have always gotten our miles when we've used Regent Air. Air Canada, and lately, AAdvantage.

I have used Regent Air only once; Orlando - LA - Papeete. I paid a deviation fee as I wanted to stop in LA both directions and I wanted to fly Delta/Air France. I earned enough miles on this air (even though it was already included in PG fare) to earn a free ticket.

We've frequently used Regent Air and always get our miles. I usually hedge my bet by paying the deviation fee to get the airline/flight I want though.
