Has anyone else had a pop-up from vipfares.com come up when trying to get into luxury cruise talk. When the pop-up from vipfares comes up you can not get out unless you log off the internet. It is very aggrevating.
Thanks Yallcruise

I have not received any popups from this site, nor does my Google popup blocker show that it has blocked any. You might want to run Adaware or Spybot.

It sounds like your computer may have some spyware that somehow got onto your computer through one of those companies like Gator.com. These awful companies basically hide spyware in downloads or sometimes upload them without explicit permission onto your PC. Basically spyware monitors your web usage and sends you pop-ups that are presumably aligned with the sites you visit most often, hence the vipfares.com with Luxury Cruise Talk. Spybot is a great utility that's available for destroying hidden spyware.

Yallcruise, I don't get that pop up here but I can suggest you install the Google tool bar with the pop up stopper. It's just about the best freebie on the internet. Google toolbar with a pop up stopper Editing to add, Michael's Spybot suggestion is an excellent one. You can download this freeware here.

I have to run spybot once a day. There is some spyware that runs my CD drive (with no CD in it) and freezes up everything for a couple of minutes. Unfoutunately I have to leave my cookie settings lower than I would like to do banking.

I can assure you there are no pop-ups installed on this board, or Brown and Keene Travel. Ngaire does not want pop-ups on any of her web sites. Especially this one.

I know this pop-up is not coming from this board. With the hints I have been given today I think I found the link and deleted it. I am keeping my fingers crossed. It has not come back up since this morning, so I hope its gone.
Thanks everyone for the help, it was much appreciated.

I use a combination of remedies to combat pops:
Yahoo Popup Blocker Google Popup Blocker (Thanks Karen!) Lava Soft Adware 6 and Spybot
I have one pesky one that seems to beat all of these and I am not sure why.

Its actually in the way the HTML is written. Sometimes it's not spyware but a particular spot on a site that will trigger it.
