Actually there is a flyer that Regent has that compares pricing in the same way against mainstream lines like Celebrity and Holland America and when laid out it is amazing how close the price can be if you take a cabin of the same square footage. However if you take a SMALL stateroom on the mainstream lines then the pricing is quite different.

To me you can't put a price on the incredible service you get on the luxury lines. I travel on Cunard sometimes and it feels like an elegant, luxurious hotel but there isn't much of a personal connection with the staff. It's also hard to make friends since sometimes you never bump into someone you met on the first day ever again!

I don't think a flyer from Regent could ever do what this article does BECAUSE it doesn't come from Regent. There have been threads from pax on other boards comparing the prices (especailly Regent vs. Oceania), and they ordinarily come up similarly (but sometimes not)........like Ngaire said, it is usually the cost of an equal stateroom to Regent that comes up the same pricing between the cruise lines. Other than Silver Sea, I have never cruised on any line but Regent, save my first cruise ever on Carnival back in the early 90's, which I thought was great. But oh, the cabin! And the set meal times, and the crowds and the lines. Might get you better pricing, but not worth it to me now. I'd rather travel less, and have it right.

Olivia you and Ngaire are soooo right. The lack of service and not included perks are not worth the hassle.

The one thing that I disagree with in this article is when the author says that you can have an almost identical experience on each ship for the same price. Give me a break, a Skysuite on Solstice does not luxury make!
