Today's mail brought a Regent mailing: Tropics, Winter 2006-07. In the 'Regent Seven Seas Distinctions' it mentions La Veranda, both on the Yoyager and the Mariner, as "reservations-only bistro for dinner, serving regional specialties". We have always been delighted to check the menus and go when something appeals or when we don't feel like dressing for the Compass Rose. Reservations-only does not seem like an improvement to us. Can this be true? Comments?

I'm not surprised at the change to "reservation only" for La Veranda. It's gotten so popular over the past several months that by 7:30 all the tables are full on most nights. Then you have to get room service or change clothes to go to the Compass Rose.

WOW I missed that, will have to go back and check. We love going to La Verandah at least once during a cruise.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends ~~M. Angelou~~

I missed seeing that, too; I have the book right here, and had just overlooked it the first time.

I wonder if that has started yet; we'll sail on Voyager one month from today, so I'll see then.

Hmm. That's kind of a shame I think. Nice to have the option, although I admit we only dined there once in June. It was very nice, but not full as I recall. It may be more of a capacity-planning thing, I would imagine.
