Welcome Pia! You picked a good cruise for your first one! My suggestions would be not not miss the private island motu and bring plenty of sunscreen!

Thank you so much!!! I am so looking forward to this trip. We have 4 children, the youngest is 3, and we have never left them for longer than a quick 2 night trip... and that was only once! If this were any other destination, we wouldn't go- but it just sounds too wonderful NOT to go!
My parents went 6 years ago, I think. Does anyone know if there have been significant changes since then? Or significant changes for the worse?

You will have a great time. Here is a site for our cruise photos from last June. It covers more islands than you will go to, but if you get bored just fast forward. It takes a long time to load so click, go eat dinner and come back and enjoy.

Hi Pia!

Like Karen said, you picked an awesome first cruise!!

Take along a couple of cheap blow-up rafts. They pack flat, then just leave them behind with the crew. They are great for the private island motu and the Bora Bora motu. There are no chairs on the Bora Bora motu, so rafts work out nicely for laying on the beach as well as floating and looking across the water at this fabulous view:

I wanna go tooooooooo!

WOW! I can't wait!!!! Great idea about the rafts, I wouldn't have thought of that, thank you.
We are really looking forward to it... now if I could just loose this 20 pounds, it will be perfect! ;)

Don't worry about the 20 pounds! Just go and have a fabulous time. We are not normally cruisers, but just got back from the 7-day PG cruise and absolutely loved it. Take lots of sunscreen, and if you're on the cold side like me (my husband jokes I'm his "frigid wife") take some sweaters or wraps for the dining rooms.

Pia...having been on PG twice, my number one recommendation would be to go out there at least a day early if possible. It is awesome to sleep off the flight and get up the next morning, walk or sit by the pool and get to the ship early. Both times we were able to board the ship around 2pm on Saturday while the other passengers were in the air, barely to Hawaii. By the time most passengers get to the ship, maybe 730-8pm or so, they are pretty tired.
The raft idea is great too, especially for Monday the Motu day.
Upgrade to business class at LAX is a pretty cool deal as well.
