It has been suggested we have a new topic for "non cruise related subjects"

I do like the idea of maybe moving threads at a later date to a new topic folder such as hotels, ports, reviews etc. I did vote no.

That seems like more work for the adm/mods unless it can be written into the code. But I know little of such things.

It would mean physcially moving them and that would be hard to keep up with. I think we separate them from the beginning or not at all.
Interesting how close a call this is. We will go with what the majority wants. I did not put a time limit on the poll but in a few days we will add a new topic or not.

Isn't that we are here (luxury) instead of CC???? So, we can discuss off-topic things? If you move all the off-topic threads, not that much left. Plus, more work for my/Ngaire's pookie :D :D :D

As much as I talk to John now I feel like he is a half pookie for me. (not really sure what a pookie is but it sounds good) I am really enjoying his CD too. I play it in the car and there are some really catchy songs on that CD.
22 votes and we are at 50/50. Interesting just to see how close this is.

Well, sometimes it is difficult to tell what is cruise related and what is not. Consider my "German Cars" thread. Sounds totally non-cruise related, does it not? Well, there are a bunch of posts there about how we can save enough money by taking German delivery of our German Cars to pay for a crossing/cruise to pick up the car. Now to me, finding a way to pay for a cruise/crossing by buying something we were going to buy anyway IS CRUISE RELATED. But maybe not, by some definitions.
So that's the problem in separating such topics from "Cruise Talk". Sometimes it's not easy to see what is cruise related and what is not.
Hope this helps, Richard :) :) :)

No matter what the decision...if we title our posts correctly and keep to that topic (more or less) it's simple to read the items we're interested in. For example, I don't read the German Car thread...don't understand what most of it is about and I drive an English car...I promise I won't start a topic on that!
I don't mind OT Threads....and as someone else said, isn't that why we're here?

I voted no. I don't think running OT posts together with cruise related threads at this point in time is so bad, maybe its even a good thing for the present. If it ain't broke why try to fix it? We can always set up a separate area at a future point in time if the volume of OT threads becomes such that it is warranted.

I voted no. I think we should leave very well enough alone.
Let's give Pookie a breather!

I voted no. I like some of the O/T threads, and there are already so many places on this board to keep up with.......
I do agree with identifying the O/T threads as just that so folks will know quickly whether or not they want to read them. I always do cause most times I learn something interesting, but I can see where that would be helpful.

All I check is this board anymore. I'm with Margo. I just don't click on something that doesn't interest me. That's the the great thing about this whole board you can bring up a subject and talk about it with people that are interested in that subject

Chip, does this mean you are staying on the Serenity until the end of the cruise?

I voted no, too. It's easier just to scroll dwn the general cruise talk topics then to enter each area. I need instant gratification!

43 votes out of 153 members so by my fuzzy math (Todd??)that's 28% of members voting, at 60/40 against. Do we drag this out or kill it now? I say kill it now in favor of not opening a new topic.
Should we open a new topic only for polls? Kidding, just kidding... ;)

I vote no, too. As long as a topic is identified on the regular board, one does not have to visit it if not interested, just like I do the car thing, since I know nothing about cars. But I love my Jag and Tahoe!

Looks like it is a NO vote for a new topic for O/T discussions for now. For a while it was close but then it went in favor of leaving them on the main thread.
