My wife and I along with a couple of other members here are really looking forward to the cruise. There are so many great members on here with so much knowledge that I want to take advantage of. ;)
So if anybody has some great tips for excursions or any othe "dont miss" things to do we would appreciate your imput. First time on the Mariner so we are really looking forward to seeing her. Thanks in advance Dan :)

I just returned from that cruise (west to east) and you will be thrilled with both the Mariner and the cruise. We traveled with our 29 yr old daughter and as a result did a lot of high activity shore excursions. Here are my observations.

In Grand Cayman, don't do the power snorkel, go to Stingray City. In Panama, we went on the tour that went to the Gatun Locks which are interesting if you don't get up early enough to watch your passage thru them that morning. My daughter took the Chagres River eco tour and enjoyed seeing the wildlife.

In Puntarenas if you are brave enough, you must do the canopy tour. Zipping down those wires 100 feet above the ground is an experience that you will not forget. Likewise the ATV tour in Huatulco is lots of fun for the adventurous. We had been to Acapulco years ago so did the white water rafting trip which was great. The guides are excellent and they take lots of digital photos which you can buy on a CD at the end of the trip.

Are you seeing a trend in our shore excursions? The least desireable was the sea kayaking in Cabo. It was the most strenuous of all the tours and I might have preferred deep sea fishing.

I say go for the canopy tour, my grandaughter, who is 11 and my daughter 40 something, and my husband 65 ish , and I, who is 50 something, and I have had a heart attack and open heart surgery, had a wonderful time, it's that first jump that gets you......But what a great day we had, I have to admit I held back telling them about my health problems, but I did fine, so if it's a little thrill, you might want to try, then go for it. :eek: :eek: :eek:

Agree about the canopy tour in Puntarenas, but make sure everything you carry is well attached to something on your person. If anything drops, it's gone forever. Marc's wife Arlene lost a pair of glasses last year.

Oh good, we signed up for most of the things suggested by Jody for out upcoming holiday tour (less than 70 hours to go). But my DH took one look at the canopy tour and was about to have me commited. He's doing the cloud forest that day.

We also hope to swim with the dolphins in Cozemel.

Thanks for all the Tips and comments. JD we might just follow in your footsteps on your excursions. How would you rate the White water trip, and is the scenery on the canapy tour as good as the "RUSH" of going down the Zip line? Do you you many creatures on your excursions?

Dan, the white water trip is rated as a category 2 which I am told is fairly tame. The biggest drop is in the first set of rapids and there we dropped into the bottom of the raft to lower the center of gravity. After that there are some exciting passages, but not as exciting as the first. Also a period of real quiet water where the guide lets you cool off by sliding over the side and hanging on. Everyone on our tour loved it.

The scenery on the canopy tour is superb, overlooking a beautiful beach from 500-600 feet above the sea. We did not see any wildlife but did hear some monkeys.
