Hi all - I'm back for HELP! Last cruise was to Tahiti - Paul Gaugin....I'm doubtful anything will ever compare, however, we're going to try cruising Hawaii - any suggestions? - Thanks in advance. j.

What cruise line? Regent does not go to Hawaii with any regular schedule. The ones that do are going to be the mainstream cruise lines - Princess, Celebrity, Carnival, RCI ... I think HAL too.

The Crystal Symphony this year had one port in its LA to Hong Kong cruise -- Honolulu. People could book the Honolulu to Hong Kong segment. It was very popular and they will be doing it again in March 2008 along with their Asian cruises in April and May.

Just one port, Judith? You would think since they were in the area, they would of hung out a bit longer!

Thanks. We haven't decided what line yet, however, I believe Norweign cruise lines - Pride of Hawaii was an option - with about 6 ports...It's just that the PG was so wonderful, I'm afraid we've become spoiled! We'll check into HAL as well. We were supposed to cruise HAL to Alaska a few weeks ago, but there was a death in the family and we cancelled. Now, we're hoping to fly to Honolulu, due a pre cruise then take the cruise, then a post cruise. j.

The NCLA cruises are popular because they're the only ones that allow for a cruise of 7 days that will hit all the major ports in Hawaii. Having said that, it WILL be a very different cruise experience than sailing the PG (or any other Regent ship). HAL might be closer in terms of quality but they'll be doing either one ways from the mainland to Hawaii or back or doing those 2 wks roundtrip ones (I think that HAL might not do the roundtrip ones but I haven't checked in a while)
This might be useful: http://www.luxurycruisetalk.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=19;t=000092
If you do NCLA, be prepared to lower your expectations somewhat and plan on spending money at the alternative restaurants instead of eating in the main dining room or planning on eating off the ship.
Let me know if there are specific questions regarding NCLA.

Also remember that NCLA has a seperate lounge for those in Penthouse levels where they can have breakfast, lunch and cocktails etc.I wasn't aware of this the only time I sailed on NCLA.It reminds me of the Queens where there is still a class distinction per choice of dining room.Isn't there an all American line that only sails around Hawaii? Perhaps I'm mistaken.
