We are still in Anchorage waiting to catch the train to Seward to board the Mariner. Having this extra day in Anchorage is almost having another cruise day. Regent takes care of all the transfers, hotel room and breakfast, they have really done a great job. We couldn't be happier with the weather, beautiful blue skies and about 65 degrees F. Every local person we have met here has been super nice. We got to the hotel at about 8pm last night and leave at noon today so there really isn't enough time to get out of town and see the sights. But we had a really fun dinner at Simon and Seaforts (1/2 price appetizers at 9pm), food was very good and the bartender couldn't have been nicer. This morning we went walking on the coastal trail. Sunset isn't until 11pm, this was the first time I have worn sunglasses at 9:30pm! Looking forward to our ride to Seward, I hear it is one of the pretties in Alaska...More later

Dixiechick, two weeks from today we will board the Mariner in Vancouver, so I will be following your seamail with extra-special interest. We too are doing the train from the ship to Anchorage (opposite direction from you), and I'll be interested to hear what you think of that and averything else.
I have written myself a note NOT to forget my sunglasses! Glad to hear that the weather is nice for you. Fingers crossed for the same in two weeks.
Have a great cruise!!!!

And my husband, daughter and I will be boarding the Mariner in Vancouver 4 weeks from now - so you have even more fans listening out for any tips and observations you care to share along the way!
Have a wonderful cruise!

Stop!
You're making me homesick for Anchorage. Lived there for 25 years.

Dixiechick, here's hoping your cruise continued as well as it began. I'm assuming you disembarked today. We're four days from leaving for Vancouver, will spend a couple of days in Victoria, then board the Mariner next Wednesday.
One interesting thing when I check our June 3 cruise. Every category shows as waitlisted. I guess that means the ship will be full. When I check other sailings, many categories show availability, so it's a little suprising that ours is fully waitlisted.
I am SO ready to see the Mariner!

Dixiechick, I read every word of your seamail also. I'm going in Sept. Your enthusiasm definitely came through and makes me wish I was boarding in 3 days, not in 3 months. Welcome home, but if you are like me, you are wishing you were still on the ship. Thanks again for the reports.
