(ap - Miami)
In a surprise announcement at the annual Cruise Industry Convention, CEO of Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, Mark Conroy, stunned the audience with news of a new ship order. The ship (which, in keeping with RSSC convention of naming their ships after Royal Caribbean ships), will be named the Explorer. It will be a smaller ship, to replace the beloved Song of Flower, weighing in at 23,505 GRT. But in a move to increase the luxury aspect of RSSC, the ship will only carry 20 passengers in 1900 sq. ft. cabins. Conroy said he expected this ship to stay mainly in Greenlandic waters with frequent excursions to whaling factories. There will be no spa facilities on board and only one restaurant, another industry first: "McDonalds-at-sea."

Phil - here I am sitting at the computer wearing the most outlandish outfit (going to a "Fun, Food and Foolishness" luncheon where I'll be competing to be crowned "Queen of Tacky") and, like Karen, I was starting to buy into your announcement until I was halfway through it.

Happy April Fools Day to all our Luxury Cruise Talk friends!

My husband and I were on an Atlantic crossing cruise about five years ago and we got the usual brochure in our cabin about the next day's events. There was a notice that instead of having us change our clocks an hour several times during the crossing that the Captain had decided to do it all at once the next night. This was to make it more convenient for the passengers. Thus the notice said that there would be no entertainment, dinner hours would end at 7 and we could retire early to adjust to the change in time. We were astounded as it sounded so strange. We went to bed and saw our cabin attendant the next morning and mentioned how strange the time change plans sounded and this had never happened to us before. She grinned and asked us what day it was!!!! We fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

You know I saw an show on where Phil lives. (Globe Trekker one of my favorite travel shows)
I could go there as I could go to Antartica but I would have a problem with shooting and eating Santa's reindeer

Mmmmm - Reindeer roast... like a cross between venison & prime rib. Never - I don't like eating animals that are probably smarter than we are.

They also have a delicacy I won't describe, that's ultra-icky-poo  - involves feathers and seals.
Suffice it to say, if I were a native up here, I would starve <img border="0" alt="[Drinking]" title="" src="graemlins/062802drink_prv.gif" /> ...

Phil - ROFL! That was great! And I second robert's request regarding the feather and seal thing - you've gotta tell us how icky-poo it is!
