I have seen people writing about how the "amex as waiting for them during the cruise"? are these points accum. from previous cruises, etc? or somehting I hould be looking for - or figuring out?

Tracy, here is some info on the AMEX cards. In addition to the info below, I think that the Blue Sky card also gives you a $250 per STATEROOM credit. It appears the offer is only good for 2009 but since the card carries no annual fee, it's still a good deal! AMEX PLATINUM/CENTURION shipboard credit info Blue Sky from American Express Experience more on your next journey! From exotic sailings to Antarctica to the historic ports of Europe, your American Express Blue Sky Card now takes your cruise experience to the next level through the end of 2009. What will you use your $250 credit for? Maybe a relaxing massage or an exciting shore excursion – it’s up to you! Cruise Line Amenities Regent Seven Seas Cruises • $250 per stateroom shipboard credit

Just FYI, it's a bit different for the Canadian Amex Platinum card. Princess is not on the list, but the rest of the list is the same. Ha to the exclusive cocktail party, did not happen on the PG! Here is the list:
Regent Seven Seas Cruises Cunard Seabourn Silversea Cruises Holland America Line Crystal Cruises Windstar
It's nice to know we can get this if we ever decide to go downscale to HAL.

Wendy, I'm not seeing the cocktail party mentioned up there, maybe I'm missing something. But our last few cruises have had a "behind the scenes" tour in place of the cocktail party.

Oh sorry, the Amex Canada website mentions it still, i.e.:
* $300 USD per stateroom shipboard credit * Exclusive cocktail reception with the ship's captain and/or officers * Exclusive embarkation (and early embarkation, subject to availability)
Got our credit promptly with no problem. That was it. We did get invited to the bridge for a special sailthrough in Rangiroa, but I doubt that was related to Amex status.
The early embarkation would have been nice, although I would have had to know about it, being off in a hotel a $30 cab ride away.

The exclusive embarkation thing hasn't happened the last several times we've embarked in Ft. Lauderdale, so that may very well be another thing of the past. I tried once, and the guy just looked at me. The very first time we got on in FLL, we were welcomed as Platinum card holders, but then we were the only people in sight at that moment.
Tracysue, may we assume that B&K is your cruise agent? Some agents don't jump through the myriad of hoops that Amex requires of them, in order to get this credit for us.

Hi Pam -
no b&k is not - that must be 1 of the requirements? I have not checked everything out - I know we have amex - platinum, etc.... but - not B & K as our cruise agent....

tracysue, you don't need to use Brown and Keene as your agent, so it is not one of the requirements!
The only time I have seen the exclusive embarkation was on SAND, I think? The AMEX line was longer than the regular check in so we just checked in the normal way.

No, no, I'm so sorry you thought that! It's just that all agencies have to do some extra work to gain that on board credit for their clients; you might ask your agent if he/she does this. I'd just hate for you to get on the ship and be disappointed.
And, no matter who your agent is, please stick around and chat with us about Regent. We love to do that.
