Does anyone know more about the illness that affected many psgrs on the Mariner? It was posted on "Events at Sea" yesterday

March 7 Seven Seas Mariner Regent Seven Seas Cruises The ship reported that 3 of 446 (0.67%) crew and 36 of 614 (5.86%) passengers had reported ill on a 12 day cruise from Lima (Peru) to Fort Lauderdale (25 Feb - 9 Mar). Symptons were consistent with gastrointestinal illness (e.g., norovirus) Illness

This is the info I read at events at sea. Those percentages don't seem like a large amount to me, but then I'm not the CDC.

It was probably something that a new guest brought on board and passes among others. We had about the same thing on each segment of the SA cruise. I don't remember anyone being quarantined or seriously ill, just uncomfortable. Those figures were only doctor visits and most people who had a GI problem fixed it quickly with Imodium.

Jim, I really enjoyed your daily updates and pictures too. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

Small world - we were in the Papeete airport last December and we met Brandon, the PGT dancer you mentioned who was injured in Moorea. He was behind us in the check-in line - we figured there had to be a story with this young guy traveling alone who had a leg injury, so we start chatting and heard the whole story. He was a nice guy and I hope he's as good as new now. He had only been on the ship for about a week and was really looking forward to South America.

I'm home and posted the last 2 days of the cruise this evening. I enjoyed doing the travelogue and am glad that others than family also enjoyed my efforts.

Ihope Arjan is still onboard in April - we met him last year on the Navigator - a really nice guy and very accomodating!
