Hello everybody.
This is my first post. JimB recommended I check this site out and everything I've read has been great.
My husband and I are planning our first cruise on the Paul Gauguin June 3rd. This will be his first cruise ever and it will be my second ever.
We just realized that the first round of the World Cup will be during our cruise. I was wondering if anyone happened to notice if soccer is ever shown on the TVs on the ship?
Thanks,
Jill

Welcome, Jill!!

I don't know if soccer will be shown on TVs. But, the scores will very likely be in the daily news reports they will deliver to your cabin.

You will love the Paul Gauguin! It's a fantastic cruise!

Again, welcome to LCT!

Kim

Welcome Jill,
Fox News is the news channel on the ship now (don't know if it always was or not), they will give scores I would guess, it is the regular fox news we get here, so I would assume you would get updates.
Again, welcome!!!! You will really enjoy the PG.

I think the best you can hope for is highlights on the news, a day late (I think it used to be BBC World, by the way, Fox is obviously a lot less likely to report on soccer.)

You might find a cafe or two on shore where the games are playing--not sure what the interest is in FP. You might try posting a question about coverage over at http://www.tahiti-explorer.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi
Lots of information about the islands there.

Great idea! I've done some island investigating and I suspect that we will be able to find soccer playing on a TV somewhere. Due to the time difference with Germany, it will probably just be highlights anyway. Do I have the only husband who worries about missing scores in paradise?

Thanks,
Jill

As for passengers, there may not be a lot of interest in soccer. However, I do recall some of the crew being very interested on our previous PG cruise. I caught some of them spending part of a day in Moorea playing soccer (the Maitre'd, Gary Roberts, was the only one I recognized).
