Here is a pic of the Mariner's Stack with the new Regent Livery that I snapped on our recent May 24th cruise to Alaska

No, it's not you Marcie. I fixed the picture, you should be able to see it now?

I like the smokestack! I miss the lyre but it's not bad.

I miss the Lyre myself...it was very distinctive branding. I know why Carlson wants to create seamless marketing branding with the Regent hotels/cruises/residences but the lyre spoke volumes without having to use any words. It truly is a pity they are doing away with it. I understand the "song of flower" connotations they want to part with, but still...

I agree....I think they should have NEVER done away with the lyre/harp. I have never met a person who didn't love that logo! It did speak volumes! Now that it's gone, I'm trying to keep an open mind.

It looks pretty good, thanks for the photo AL. At least they didn't paint the smokestack purple as it was rumored. I think a certain Captain we all know and love put in his 2 cents worth and thus the classy look.

This morning we were looking over some of the docs that we got for WAVE. Some of the announcements were printed on the "old" two-toned paper, blue fonts, with the Radisson harp/lyre logo. Others were on plain white paper, black fonts, and just "Regent" at the top.

Wendy and I agreed that the old style was nicer. But this was perhaps because they are evocative of many lovely times on previous Radisson cruises. When we have some had some equally lovely times on Regent cruises our opinions may well change.

When our son was small I was shocked to discover how resistant to change many little kids are. And as I get older, I am equally shocked to see how resistant to change that I am getting. Feeling nostalgic about a logo going away because of a corporate re-branding exercise probably qualifies as an example.

Another test of uploading via Geocities (as I try to figure out why I could do it before and now I have a problem).

This is the Mariner coming into Vancouver

Wow. No wonder I have to scroll over on these messages! Like the smokestack though, even though I'll miss the lyre. At least they listened to the captain!

While the "Regent" doesn't look bad, the picture of the Mariner in Vancouver shows another reason why it was a bad idea...it is hard to read at a distance. That's why companies use logos...like, er, Radisson's lyre!

Looks better to me than a big black X. That big picture was very blurry. Hard to tell what it looks like in real time. I can't remember, what is Silverseas logo? Seems that one didn't stick with me, and I love the line. Is it on their smokestack?

Their logo is (I think) a stylized water vessel from which water is coming out. Very classy, IMHO

Note how they did not put the name of the cruise line on the smokestack, just the logo. Stands out. This is not the best pic, but you guys get the idea.
