Thought I'd post this instead of mailing Ngaire, as I thought it might be of general interest.

I have a friend who is thinking about booking his first Regent cruise this summer. He's very interested in the WAVE-like itinerary in August.

But, he's not very happy with the single supplement. So he's going to try to find a friend to go with him. I'd like to advise him to go ahead and book, to increase his chances of a good cabin (I've recommended a G).

But can he do that, and then add another person to the booking later, or would that force him to cancel and re-book with the risk of losing the cabin?

I've travelled as a single but with hopes that Tim could get the time off and come with me, and was told that it would not be a problem to add him at a later date.

My sister added a friend after final payment last summer, with no problems

Great, that's what I wanted to hear! I'll tell my friend.

Yes, no problem to add another person. The only thing you need to know is if the fare goes up prior to the second person being added to the cabin the new person has to pay the new higher fare. This happened on Fjords as the price went up from the original offering price.
