Does PG now have self service laundry? If not, are cleaning prices comparable to those on the other ships?

thanks,

Nope, no self-service laundry. Don't know what the charge, I've been told it's reasonable.

Hi Marc,
No self service on PG, but I do have a current list of prices from our cruise last week. Here are a few examples:
Laundry/Pressing (Gentlemen):
jeans: 4.50
polo shirt: 3.50
shorts: 3.50
underwear: 1.50
swimsuit: 1.50
Laundry/Pressing (Ladies):
cardigan: 4.50
dress: 6.50
fitness wear: 3.50

Not sure how these compare to other ship's prices. Dry cleaning prices seem reasonable:2piece suit: 9.00 dress: 7.00

We used this service on the ship and everything came back just fine.

Jacki, thanks!

With pre and post cruises, we have 12 days. May need to pack a little more than on other cruises. At least no formal clothes.

thanks,

I can't imagine someone else washing my underwear for me, can you? I'm going to find some packets of laundry soap and do them in the sink.

Last time we had no need for laundry--plenty of clean clothes left over, in fact.

This time I figure the second week, we'll have a couple of pairs of pants and a few shirts laundered or dry-cleaned. The prices do seem reasonable enough.

Wendy, I always take enough undies for the length of the trip as they don't take up much room. I can't imagine having my underwear hanging out to dry! They are also great rolled up as hat stuffing when you are packing. Mark's baseball caps never get smashed as they are packed with undies :)

Wandra, I fill an old plastic prescription bottle full of powdered laundry detergent. It works out very well, and is small. It does the job for me. I agree with you, I don't want anybody touching my undies. LOL

I agree, NOBODY goes near my undies and bras!! But I did send my husband's underwear out.

I had read once that shampoo works well for rinsing out your clothes on a trip like this. It works well for any greasy stains you might get from food.

Hey you're right Jacki, shampoo would be perfect! I was in fact thinking about rinsing out bras, particularly. Thanks for the tip!

I seem to remember that we had a bath gel among our toiletries on the PG. I used that for undies and swimsuits.

And, if RSSC looses your luggage on the way over, they will launder your clothes for you overnight once you have changed into your nice Radisson robe.

How long is the turnaround time for the laundry service? We're doing a back-to-back and we'll definitely need laundry serivce; maybe twice.
Thanks! BTW, enjoyed reading the PIP postings!

Seadog--
Can't remember exactly, but we usually had our stuff back within 24 hours. Never more than 36 hours. Have a great cruise! Our next one isn't until March 06, so reading about everyone else's adventures is keeping me going for now!

Thanks, Jacki!

I almost wish we had a few more months to anticipate our cruise. We board Saturday and it will be over before we know it.

If your laundry ready by 8AM, it is returned the same day. We were just on in July for 11 days and had no problem getting stuff back the same day.

Oh, great! I can take only one pair of jammies (ok, t-shirt and boxers). Otherwise, if laundry isn't returned until the next day... well, I'll be sleeping au naturel!

Thanks for the info!

I ended up with clean laundry left over on the cruise I just returned from, as I wore a swim suit and t-shirt until dinner time most days - and only put on socks for dinner. Two good shirts were plenty! I was surprised there was no self-service laundry on the PG, but would always wash my own rather than pay hotel laundry prices.
