Hello All- Allan and I are getting very excited about our July 1st sailing on the PG. I have a few questions...Does anyone know what they charge for a Martini or a Pina Colada? Do they have a machine on board that you can put your digital camera chip into and download and then burn to disc? Does anyone know the charge for having your laptop configured to use the wireless connections? Does anyone have a checklist that they use to pack for this trip? I have read a lot of really good suggestions but, worried I will forget something. Do men ever wear sports coats/ties? Are the restaurants and lounges cold?Where and when should we dine? Finally, any specific must do's/haves that you would recommend? This is our honeymoon so we want it to enjoy all of it! We have requested the following: (all comments welcome)Many thanks! Feel free to email me directly to AshleyandAllan@aol.com
Thanks in advance for your input!

The dining halls can get chilly. Bring a wrap. You can have your husband bring a sports coat if he tends to get chilly.

Some of the meals are taken outside and those are humid.

The waverunner trips you have selected are just wonderful.

You can dine whenever you want when the dining room is open. You can dine alone or with new friends you've made. It is like a restaurant. You go down and are seated. If there is a large number, you may want to let the maitre d' know so he can configure the tables.

If you have a chance, buy pareos in Bora Bora. You will be casual most of the time. Bring bathing suits and coverups. Lots of sunscreen, water shoes to wear in the water, some shorts that you won't mind getting wet for the waverunner, bug spray is needed. I sent away for floats and these were fun. It is casual. Don't stress on attire.

Thanks Sedona! Hopefully I will get more pointers from others who have traveled with Regent!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon, Ashley and Allan. You've chosen a wonderful trip to celebrate your marriage.

The "must do" that's not on your list is the motu day at Ta'haa. When we were aboard the PG, we could burn a CD directly onto the computers at Club.Com. That changed on the Voyager when we sailed in January. Instead, the photographer could burn the CD for you for a reasonable fee.

These changes do not always move in sync between the PG and the Voyager/Mariner/Navigator. Bring a few blank CDs in case you can burn them yourself. Hopefully, someone who's just been on the PG could chime in here with more current information.

I don't know exactly what the current charges are for drinks on the PG; drinks in January on the Voyager (martinis, cosmos) ran around $7 each.

If you haven't already done so, run a search on this site for the PIP cruise (May 2005). There were a lot of threads that may be helpful. We did the waverunner in BoraBora; the seas were high and it was a pretty wild ride (translation: not much fun). Others have done it with calmer seas and enjoyed it immensely. The shark and ray feeding excursion in Bora Bora was among our favorites. The Mo'orea photo tour got high marks from our fellow LCTers.

La Palette after dinner was a lot of fun. We did Apicius and L'Etoile for dinner. Didn't think the Pacific Grill was the best choice for dinner but had several good lunches there.

Cheers, Anne

Dear Almost honeymooners,
Go on the website www.cruisecritic.com and then scroll down to sevenseas Voyager. When that comes on the screen, click on messages. Someone just returned from the PG and gave a review on it which might help you. If you have trouble getting it, I am sure someone on LCT will tell you how to do it. Good luck and I am sure you will have a marvelous honeymoon.

I suggest you also look at the reviews on the B&K Regent site. They can be found by looking at the pull down menu under Announcements. You will see Passenger reviews. I wrote an extensive one on our 10-day cruise in February. One of our ports was Rangiroa. Also, we had terrific food in La Veranda on 3 occasions for dinner.

I'm a linky person so with that in mind:

Link to Eugene's review: http://www.bkrssc.com/IR_Review_Eugene.htm
Link to Kathy Z's review: http://www.bkrssc.com/IR_Review_2_by%20Kathy_Z.htm
Link to Elquailo's review: http://www.bkrssc.com/IR_Tahiti_Ken_Equailo.htm

Ken (Elquailo)'s review had some interesting details about a wedding vow renewal/ceremony ritual at one of the hotels that may be of interest considering that this is your honeymoon (congratulations on that BTW).

Ashley - while I do remember seeing a few men wearing sports coats on the PG, I do not remember seeing those men wearing ties. On our 2004 trip on the PG one family group had their men in tuxes with bow ties 1 or 2 nights but they were the exception. My husband was glad that he took some long sleeve shirts for the evenings because some nights when he wore short sleeves he was a little chilly in the air conditioning. I had a jacket that went with one outfit plus a couple of sweaters. If I could have found a wrap that went with everything that would have saved some room in my packing.

We were on the PG last month. I "made" my husband bring a sports jacket which he never wore. Definitely don't need it - and no ties. Just nice shirts/dockers will do fine. Very casual.
Women - sun dresses - nice summer top and slacks/sandals do fine for dinner as well. You may want to bring one or two "fancy" tops, but just go with the flow. Whatever makes you comfortable. Once you get a sun burn, you'll feel chilly in the a/c so a light sweater or wrap is good to pack. During the day, I lived in bathing suit/cover up and shorts. Make sure you get water shoes and if you can, bring a collapsible float. I used it alot. The one I bought is carried in an open weaved bag, which you can use for your sunscreen, water, book, snorkel mask, etc. Many people commented they wished they had thought of it. Target has them for about $15. It fit easily in our garmet bag as it folds really flat and weighs nothing. You will LOVE the PG and FP. The only problem is it spoils you for the next vacation. I'm afraid nothing else will compare.

On Sunday we did the Raitea bus tour (a/c) which was great. "Summer," originally from California, was the tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and interesting. We did the lagoon and snorkelling tour on Friday in Moorea - it was one of the best tours we did. Very laid back and just wonderful. Swam with stingrays!! Enjoy it all......Our motu day at Tahaa got rained on - but was still fun. The food was great. I Imagine on a sunny day it's incredible. Beach days in Bora Bora were great, too. Just bring alot of sun block +45. I used it and still got a great tan, no burn. Oh, and I paid about $8 for some mixed banana concoction (similar to a Pina Colada) - worth every penny!! They have a really nice ceremony on board for honeymooners and anniversary couples - make sure you go!! I think it's on Wednesday or Thursday night before dinner time. One small piece of advice - it seems that many newlyweds are targeted to purchase black pearls. Sometimes gets a bit pushy IMO, not so much on board, but on excursions that stop at pearl establishments as an aside from the tour. If you're in the market fine but it gets a bit old after awhile. Have an absolutely wonderful time. It's a trip you'll remember your whole life! The beauty of Tahiti is beyond words. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

Steve- Thanks.... That is for sure in our budget! LOL! Just curious I read somewhere on here that they will give you any kind of complimentary drink in the dining room, not just wine. Did you find that to be true?

Because we had 'happy hour' in our cabin most nights (went to the piano bar with friends a couple of nights) with the complimentary sodas and booze, when it was time for dinner we didn't need any more drinks. But most nights we sat around after dinner and had a round or two of port, which was complimentary.

I believe you can order cocktails at dinner, beyond wine.

Have a great cruise, suggestions:

--watershoes
--cheap air mattress
--order breakfast at 7 am on balcony(if u have
enjoy sunrise)
--sun hat (e.g.tilley, etc)
--sun glassess
--two bathsuits (one drys)
--cloth shoe rack for back of bathroom door
--sunblock (spf20+)
--bull frog bugg spray
--an extension cord

And yes drinks before dinner/after dinner while you are in the venue are included, and if you have a favoite area in La Etoille and it is not available, the M'D will send u up to La Palete for drinks on the house till your table is ready
