If you haven't already, check out these slide shows as they have pictures of the inside, outside, and views from the Lagoon OWB.

It really is a nice room.

Steve,

It was your great pictures that helped convince me to stay at the Intercontinental. Glad to know they were of a lagoon OWB. I will try to book one. I am sure I will be asking many more questions as we get closer to our cruise.

So excited for you, R!!! Our OWB (several years ago at the Meridian) was one of the best hotel experiences for us, ever! So gorgeous and romantic! Hard to leave, except that it was pre cruise for us so onward to the PG wasn't too hard to take!!!

Know we will all enjoy sharing your anticipation!

Thanks for re-posting those links, S! Thanks, B, me too! We just had to book this post cruise because we knew we would not want to just get off the ship and go home.

Shower big enough for 2 K? You naughty, naughty girl!! :D

Robert: we went online while on the PG just before disembarking and saw that there were Lagoon OWB available on their website so we knew that they were not sold out and had a good chance of getting upgraded with the Ambassador Card. If you are going at a time of year when they are not fully booked then you stand a very good chance of getting upgraded and yes as a cardholder it's your right to ask for it. Good Luck!

Hi R,

Upgrading is always subject to availability at any property. If you are an Ambassador, InterCon will almost certainly upgrade you if they have the upgraded accommodations to do so.

Never ever hurts to ask for upgrades. The worst the Front Desk agent can say is "sorry, not available." I'm sure you'll be able to "charm" your way to an upgrade, Ambassador or not! ;)

motu or lagoon?

Motu are the closer to the main building OWB's and they are the smaller rooms. Lagoon are farther out but larger and more private. This is according to the posts above.

But looking a the aerial view photo on the ICB website, the Lagoon in in the middle of the resort and is central to the main building. The smaller OWB's are arranged around the lagoon. This is what I remember. We stayed in the far away OWB's which were more remote and private, also were the larger, Junior Suite rooms.

Robert, it is a gorgeous property. Like many others, I suggest a PRE-cruise stay as opposed to post-cruise. It won't compare to the PG. It IS visually stunning with the dual infinity edge pools, but the staff works on "Tahitian time" which may not be your time and certainly not the speedy service you'll be used to on the PG. the geckos are the only speedy thing on the entire property. It's a place to be savored however, and if you're determined to do post cruise stay, simply keep the service aspect and the steep prices for food in mind. (for ex: $90 US for the 3 of us for a breakfast buffet)

Appreciate the input, Sue, but Paul's school schedule is very specific in the days he can be gone so a pre-cruise is not an option. Yes, I'm expecting high prices and a bit of a "shift" in service levels - but such things really do not concern me much.

Have not seen the villa, C....I'll take a pic if I can and post. Problem is....you'll have to wait a year and a half!!
