Missing, or just mis-sorted to a higher-numbered page?

Hi. CC is switching over to a new system; only moving one year's worth of posts. So now's the time to retrieve anything you need while the old board is still read-only. Laura's announcement is here:

Sorry to see that anything over a year old will be lost - there was some very valuable information there.

I don't think "lost" for awhile. Laura writes: "If you have any Cruise Critic message board post material older than one year . . . you will have an opportunity to retrieve that information....since these boards will be READ ONLY for a period of time. You will need to copy and paste that material and save it to your own computer." http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=927093444&f=749097554&m=824101722

But, you're right. Sorry for the loss . . . that's the downside of the cyberspace that's accessible to us "regular" folks. No permanent archive.

Now I know what I'll be doing all day, going through the info older than a year to save what I might need in the future. oh, well.

Well, the problem as I see it is that the internet has become the "new post office" and the "new newspaper", and computer technology is not "fully cooked" yet. I have more than once remarked to Carol that if my new car performed as poorly as my new computer, our state's lemon law would be quickly invoked! What we have here is the fact that CC's storage capabilities have been overrun by the data submitted over the years, and some of it has to go to create room for future data.

Analog, I understand. Digital, I don't. If this were all analog, I would have a device in my garage the size of a 1960 Fiat car that would power the info through and from anywhere. With digital, I'm a total dummy!!

Thanks,
Richard :) :) :)
