Hi, We will be on the PG in March and would like to renew our wedding vows onboard. I know that a group ceremony is offered but we would like to also have a private ceremony. Does anyone know if this can be arranged and how? Does it need to be done ahead of time or can it be done once on the ship?

Thanks, kimk

Hi, KimK! I was on the PG in June and knew a couple having their vows renewed. It was done the afternoon of our visit to Moorea, up on the top deck near the Bar du Soleil (wasn't open). It was by invite only. They had a small cake, champagne, flower leis and headpieces, the traditional ceremony by the Captain and the polynesian portion of the ceremony with the cape/blanket, and photos by ship's cameraman, with EmCee duties by Cruise director - about 15 guests. Very nice. Lasted about 15-25 minutes. It's a package deal that you can arrange through your T/A (best in advance so the ship can have cake and flowers ready). Once you get on board, you should talk to the cruise director or social director (Should be Claudia Perriou). The backdrop alone is drop-dead gorgeous.
They also have an anniversary ceremony for all couples one afternoon by the LaPalette Lounge, aft, where they do similar ceremony for all, then have individual photos with borrowed cape/blanket and flower crowns. I don't believe this one cost anything, but the other individualized one does have an extra cost. Do Both!! cheer

KimK, my husband I renewed our vows in a private ceremony on the PG September 2003....and I'm so glad we did. We actually had a "double" ceremony with our close friends who were travelling with us. We arranged it with the cruise director, on the first day we boarded. They re-wrote the ceremony to suit the "two brides, two grooms" issue for us and everything!

It was absolutely blissful, the wedding I had wanted to have, but didn't initially. The words spoken are so lovely (and they give you a nice copy of them to keep), Les Gauguines played. We had a champagne reception as well, 14 of us were travelling together. We ordered leis and head pieces, had brought our special shirts and gowns with us....it was heaven. The backdrop of Bora Bora couldn't be beat....we finally have fantastic "wedding" photos 7 years later.

I hope you enjoy your special day as much as I did!

Charlene
