I don't remember any hotels on Copacabana beach directly. All the hotels were across the street if I remember correctly. Further South on Leblon beach there was a very nice hotel on the beach but remember the name it's been too many years. Rio is a wonderful place to visit so much to see and experience.

Enjoy.

Claudia,
The Rio Sheraton is directly on the beach and what a beach! Only a short distance from main Copacabana. We were there during Carnival and it was wild. Excellent restaurants in the hotel and be sure to visit the Ouro Verde Hotel for old world atmosphere.
A movie was being shot at the hotel , the star was Ira Von Furstenburg and she was beautiful. I got her autograph.

The Copacabana Palace on Copacabana Beach is where I'd stay. Lots of charm, history and wonderful service and location. The Caesar Park on Ipanema Beach is also excellent. Both hotels are across the street but with great unobstructed views! When are you going? Rio is such an exciting, vibrant city!

The Copacabana...and just about all the hotels are across the street from the sand...and the sand is just that....lots of glorious sand with no buildings on them. The Copa pool area is terrific. A perfect place to veg out..and be pampered! ENJOY!

The Copa was wonderful - that area just has such a "hot" feel. We lounged at the pool there and had lunch - I even have a great picture taken (one of those where you wish you still looked like that) at the pool area. The guy I was dating had "lived" at the hotel for awhile before moving into a condo and he knew everyone - we got top service. I enjoyed Rio a lot but was very concerned about the crime as it is very high and I was young (22)and hadn't been exposed to anything like that at home. The views are great from the hotels and the "board walk" area is beautiful with lots of tile.
What a great trip and during Carnival....

Kathy
